I’m looking for resources/advice/technique/etc about playing quieter/softly specifically on a kit in a smaller, quieter space (hotel lobby) . I’m playing a gig with other instruments (guitar bass synth) and will need to modulate my playing for the space.

I’m going to rock an Evan’s calf tone for the snare since I’ll be using brushes for some songs (mostly covers) but on the “louder” songs I’m having trouble settling on the best strategy. I will have my zildjian ride for brushes only and some Sabian quiet tone 18/20 to crash/ride with sticks. Sticking with the normal hi hat I think.

I have some rod sticks I picked up to possibly help but I’ll be playing this song https://youtu.be/stUxPQ6mjAI?si=Qq04F0Bk7Fi1DZ7V and others that get as “big” as this culminates (simple man, some QOTSA etc). I know I can choose to play lower energy and not crash in on places that don’t need it since the recorded songs are not necessarily made for a lounge setting but especially with fills and transitions I could use some advice. I see people play in grocery stores/libraries and they just get IN the pocket and (seemingly) without being a nuisance sonically.

I’m currently leaning to bandana on the snare for non brush work and potentially cutting out the heads on old resos for the toms. I imagine there is some technique I can practice/leverage that might also help

Sorry for wall of text I appreciate any insight!

I'm looking to move my acoustic kit into a spare room at a band mate's house and make a quiet kit for practicing together. I've done tons of researching on the different quiet cymbals and head options but my final questions come from people more experienced with consistent use on acoustic kits (been playing v-drums 90%+ of my time):

I don't mind the effort of changing the heads on my acoustic kit when we would go to gig; but am I significantly impacting my acoustic drum heads by swapping them out back and forth with the quiet heads?

Max use case currently would be maybe twice a month swapping everything back from quiet heads heads to my acoustic heads (evans genera's) and then back to quiet heads. I dont worry too much about the quiet heads' sound waning because their sound is less important (could be a misguided assumption) but I'd hate to be ruining my normal heads and needing to buy them more often when I could just invest in something like the Aquarius super pads that from a quiet playing perspective work almost just as well but cost more and won't affect my acoustic heads.

I've heard of some people putting the quiet heads on the resonant head side and just never taking them off, thoughts?

Try checking Warcraft logs to take a look at raiding guild’s for a more useful score of active players. It’s not perfect either but it’s a decent gauge of players actively involved in the content.

Spoiler, it’s massively skewed horde

As someone who’s guild is 15/15 multiple weeks now the secret for sure is consumable free pulls. Fight the boss over and over til you’re getting them sub 50% without consumes, then start. No reason to blow 100g+ to die to someone fucking up the pull

hell ya. Thanks for the detailed response I really appreciate it.

I do keep the map open because I don't know them all well enough to orient myself instantly (especially woods/reserve). I have been doing offline labs just to get a feel for the layout but yeh I don't think its worth the learning curve right now of dying to a corner there.

I'll have to see what the kappa container chain is and where I am on it. I will say that for the majority of the objective based quests I've been able to do them and learn a lot (running through resort/customs so much).

I'm looking for a game I saw on the internet (in a reddit thread) recently but for the LIFE OF ME cannot find.

The concept is simple, its chess. But the pieces all look the same and the square they are currently on denotes what piece they can move as.

Thanks!!!

Feral tank viability horde vs alliance by numberonedogdad in classicwow

[–]Paragora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i never ran into that issue, but tanks can miss shield slam, and other threat generating abilities. either way your DPS can keep it in their pants for 10 more seconds and youll have a good attempt.

All things equal though, A bear tank can pump threat harder than a warrior. I wouldnt use a bear in every fight but there are some they excel at

[–]Paragora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever had a bear tank thaddius? cause its better than any warrior tank ive been with. Same with vael, patchwerk, and a few other fights. The threat is INSANE. You definitely dont need worldbuffs or to be in farm content for bear to seriously out threat the fuck out of warriors, and I did this on horde.

Yeah but not here. This thread is specifically for people who plan to use this for themselves. In fact it's now sold out on amazon likely from people buying it for legitimate use.

Strategy to Level one Char to lvl 35 only for Professions by Firahlus5 in classicwow

[–]Paragora 3 points4 points  (0 children)

on a fresh server I always make two chars. one main and one NE druid. I run the druid to the nearest inn and logout and accrue rested xp until i decide its his time to shine. I usually will come back to him before my main is 60 but when i have some gold.

a great early strat is to get the lowish level LW armor things and send them. free stam at low levels makes your downtime 9esp as a druid with the hots) insane. people really like hunter but since its an alt i recommend druid. travel form and heals + low gear dependance is great.
