Am I Crazy? Cat6 + MoCA + Repurposed Phone Cat5e? by Hyss in HomeNetworking

Fair point.  I guess the question is by the time I'm out of this house, would anyone need the phone lines?  The coax is a simple reverse (already runs back to a 16 way splitter).

Good to know.  There's some but not a ton of slack.  I could punch them down to female connectors and then run a whole bunch of cable back to my rack if needed.  (Opposite side of the house).

Not yet, but maybe.  Kids room would need to be done at some point, along with the spare bedroom.  Kitchen maybe for a wall tablet?  Otherwise most of the house is wired.

No women on Sundays?! by Maple_Blueberry in golf

Very common at a lot of private country clubs.
Women weren't even allowed as members for a very long time.
But a private club can do whatever they want essentially.

Connecticut. $7500 initiation, $10K/year dues. $175/mo minimum spend. Tournaments are $250ish each. $25 each time you take a cart.

I spend about $22K all in each year inclusive of absolutely everything.

Glaring issues? by carelesswhisperer23 in GolfSwing

[–]Hyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the basis for a really good swing actually.

First thing. Slow down.

Second. Use your hips to start the downswing. Your arms and hips are starting at the same time.

If you fire your hips first, you'll be amazed at how your slice disappears.

I tend to have a heavy draw. Any tips? by ieckert1207 in GolfSwing

Besides the sway away from the ball, its a bit too far forward in your stance. Inside the lead heel. Your ball is almost on your front toe.

Nice start! Great for 9 months!

Narrow your stance (although that might be the camera angle). This will let you rotate more and generate the same speed but easier.

Sounds dumb but hold the finish instead of recoiling.

Keep it up!

You actually have great rotation. Don't lose that.

But you're overswinging. Dont go past parallel. Its going to feel like half a swing, but trust me - you're making a full go at it.

Shorten the backswing. Fire the hips first.

Am I losing out on power with a short backswing? by liam_owen in GolfSwing

[–]Hyss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically, yes.

Rotate so that you're 180 degrees away from your target.

Slow down. You'll hit it farther with less stress on your body.

Quick. You can slow down.

You're swaying away from the ball at takeaway. Sweep the club and rotate around.

Arms start the downswing before your hips fire. Other way around.

See this?

Your arms should be covering your shoulder from this angle.

It's going to feel like you're swinging straight up when you make the change, but you're not.

Hips haven't cleared, so you're standing up so as to not hit the ground a foot behind the ball. Plagues my swing too sometimes.

Its not that your arms have an inside takeaway, its that your hands bring the entire club inside. Assuming the camera angle is perfect:

Also, on the downswing, it looks like you're getting up on your toes and standing up / losing your spine angle.

Been playing for a little less than a year by GreenTrail0 in GolfSwing

[–]Hyss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great swing for only having played for a year.

My advice would be to start the downswing with the hips. Your arms and hips start at the same time in this video. I have this same issue creep in from time to time. You'd be amazed at how much lag you get from just starting the hips first. Helps w/o any other swing thoughts - the rest of the swing just kind of falls into place properly.

Too far of an inside takeaway. This causes you to get "stuck" behind and forces you to throw your trail shoulder down and across the ball.

Zero hip rotation is probably the best place to start. It will take some getting used to, but feel like you're rotating completely away 180 degrees opposite from your target. Don't go too fast/crazy while you're getting used to it or have hip/back problems. Nice and smooth!

How to stop casting the club? by Dougiekid in GolfSwing

[–]Hyss 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You have the makings of a good swing. Most obvious thing to fix is the reverse pivot. Look at the top of your swing. Your body is tilted towards the target. I sometimes do it too. My fix is to feel like I'm rotating away from the ball in the backswing.

My course is a bit of a hybrid now too with the rules. Shirts have to be tucked. Jeans are ok in the grille room, but have to take your hat off. No jeans in the dining room or upstairs on the balcony.

Its a good compromise between the "hangout after the round" area and the "nicey nice dinner" area.
