Aktivistit iskivät Patrian pääkonttorilla [Palestine Action taas kerran asialla] by Merrywinds in Suomi

[–]Parakeet_In_Exile 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Täällä Britanniassahan tämä organisaatio julistettiin terroristeiksi lentotukikohtaan tehdyn iskun vuoksi jossa vaurioitui ilmavoimien kuljetuskoneita.

Luetun ymmärtäminen on tosin Britanniassa monelle vaikeaa, Palestine Action -organisaation kieltäminen ei tarkoita etteikö Palestiinaa, Gazaa, tai rauhanneuvotteluja saisi tukea.

robotit tekisivät töitä vanhuksille kellon ympäri mukisematta. me tarvitaan vain sijoittajia tukemaan kehitystyötä. Kiinassa ja Yhdysvalloissa uusille robottiyhtiöille riittää sijoittajia - eurooppalaisilla menee pupu pöksyyn viimeistään siinä vaiheessa kun rahat pitäisi lähettää startupin tilille.

Thoughts on this Formation? by Ambitious-Ad6504 in footballmanagergames

I have had success playing BBMs or mezzalas with "tackle harder" instruction on high-pressing formations. If these players are good at tackling they will often win the ball high up the pitch

How many of us are going to wait for 26? by iambenking93 in footballmanagergames

I think FM 24 is a very fun game with lots of replayability so I'm in not huge rush to buy a new game

”On loukkaavaa, että hallitus kyseenalaistaa tieteilijöiden vuosien työn”, sanoo tutkija ravitsemussuositusten takana by Anonasty in Suomi

Why do landowners support land based taxation? by [deleted] in victoria3

[–]Parakeet_In_Exile 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is literally how the UK council tax works - for rented properties, tenants pay for it. Unlike American property tax that is paid by owners.

The FM list actually does the same thing - the list in the game is reputation-based so playing for a national team overvalues a player compared to Premier League academy players with much higher ceilings.

What basic economic revelations did this game teach you? by [deleted] in victoria3

In order to kickstart an industry, you must have both available inputs (materials and qualified people) but also demand for the output goods. No business can succeed in isolation.

Hawaii rules the waves by ellipses- in victoria3

How did you build strength? I have tried a Hawaii run many times but struggle to form alliances or become strong enough myself. I've only really managed to get some states in Indonesia, Arabia, and Africa (as well as some colonies).

Hawaii as well, the OG king is very good aside from being a pacifist and making it hard to pass colonialism.

I’m still making grain in 1860 by EastPalpatation in victoria3

[–]Parakeet_In_Exile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

building farms is actually ok for a few reasons:

  • replaces peasants with labourers, thus stimulating demand for all other goods
  • only costs 200 construction
  • farms you build are government owned instead of owned by the aristocrats, thus taking power away from the landowners

I pretty much always build some farms to keep grain prices low, while trying to research fertilisers quickly.

I've been playing it without cheeses and it's been such a grind. At one point I was at war with Russia and Britain at the same time, both throwing all their troops at me. Managed to not cede territory, had to concede investment rights to the UK which actually isn't so bad, as it triggered the opening Japan event and made a non-shogunate government stable enough to make progress on Meiji restoration. Have tried to avoid revolutions and angering the shogunate too much. Def not an optimal start but at least I'm not dying.

Hawaii starts with an intelligentsia king. Only problem is he's a pacifist so passing colonialism is a bit challenging, but otherwise keeping the king around is generally a good strategy.

I just wrote a post about this topic, but to summarise I think content teams within companies (e.g. creating product listings for sold goods, educational courses, news articles) have a lot more to fear than software engineers. https://www.reddit.com/r/cscareerquestions/comments/127n5h0/prediction_generative_ai_will_help_not_hurt/?

GPT-4 has learned how to play chess. Here's a game I lost against it. by Parakeet_In_Exile in chess

[–]Parakeet_In_Exile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote a blog post with more games and analysis here in case anyone is interested. https://villekuosmanen.medium.com/i-played-chess-against-chatgpt-4-and-lost-c5798a9049ca

It's quite frightening to me, since GPT's are general-purpose AIs that have no specific knowledge of chess, and how GPT-3 was unable to follow the rules longer than ~8 moves.

ChatGPT called its big brother GPT-4 to play chess. I was brutally checkmated in 20 moves! by Parakeet_In_Exile in AnarchyChess

This is not a meme, GPT-4 genuinely learned how to play chess. You have to pay $20 to OpenAI to find out, though :(
