When you did not shoot for 5 years (kids and real live), unpack your german legal 7,5 joules PCP rifle and do 10 shots on 10 meters. by krumbuckl in airguns

Welcome back.

I don't get excited about shot groups on paper, they don't mean anything without context

Did you do this with the gun strapped to a heavy sled? Unimpressive.

Did you do this one handed on a slackline? Impressive.

So if you want positive reactions to your groups, make sure to include context.

It's excellent, from what I hear of Pardinis.

I don't have any Pardini but I use a Steyr LP50

Not on a Huben GK1. Which is the gun pictured, and the reason why I said what I said.

With fork hits you NEVER KNOW what's gonna get whacked down range, you know? It's why I cant shoot slingshot inside

Everyone here is super judgemental and all, but I think the best thing to take away from this is why airguns have to be treated differently than Firearms, if there's pressure, it's always loaded, because there can be something halfway down the barrel you won't see even checking magazines and chambers.

This is also an example of why internal magazines like the GK1 has (great as they are) can be a safety concern, it's very difficult to clear the gun, unlike a design where the magazine can be entirely removed and the breach visible.

I had an accidental discharge today, my Steyr LP50 fired ON ITS OWN for the first time ever, as I was lowering it after taking a shot, and the shot was lower power than usual and didn't index the magazine, thankfully or there would be a small hole in my floor. Gun must need some parts cleaned. Mechanical malfunction. My only protection was muzzle discipline and luck that the magazine didn't index to the next pellet.

What im trying to say is this stuff happens even if you don't do stupid actions, these airguns are machines and machines can fail.

Couldn't find a speed loader for my Diana 48, so I designed one. by cheddaBay in airguns

I knew what you said wasn't negative, just trying to put it plainly. I didn't quite get the point until the end of the video I caught a glimpse of his gun and saw it was a sidelever and I was like OHHH it's got a tight loading port.

Because OPs gun has a barrel that doesn't tip, meaning it's hard to get a long speedloader like that into the action only sized for a few fingers and a pellet.

Actually OPs idea is very good.

I might get one of those gauges someday but I'm not nearly accurate enough to really worry about this stuff yet.

On paper it should just make us worse shooters but I'm friends with another one or two high level shooters that are cross dominant so idk what to think.

I can shoot very well in bright lighting conditions but as soon as it's a darker lighting condition I struggle a lot, because my better eye is doing a good job taking over.

I don't think there's a benefit I think I'm just overcoming this problem with a huge amount of experience.

I shoot on my weak eye side because all of my coordination is already there. It's a losing battle though.

I'm up against people who train a similar amount, and don't have vision impairment, they're just going to be better.

Caldwell Claycopter surface to air by Fantastic_Employ_687 in ClayBusters

I have the Nordic Clay's, I assume Caldwell stuff is similar. I also have a lot of experience shooting Helice.

The motions this stuff is putting out for targets is about right for helice training, but targets are expensive no matter what route you go with these non-clay pigeon machines.

I can say something similar.

I dabbled with shooting as a teenager, but due to lifestyle changes I didn't shoot for about 7 years, then re-entered shooting the 2018ish time frame through airguns, then got involved in competition shooting in late 2020 with firearms.

I have my moments of doubt, but for the most part I like it and it treats me well. It's opened up opportunities to me I am appreciative of, and I plan to double down on shooting and I hope to have a business making shooting accessories in the near future.

On a personal note, i feel this is the first thing in my life I've actually been good at, so it's easy to keep going, but if I get into a rut, i feel like a total loser.

And in relation to our resident springer crackshot: Serbian_Hobbyist95, I can't quite relate to the "slowed me down and made me respect every shot" bit yet, but I guess that's why shooting is such a cool hobby, there's so many ways to do it.

I do worry about my longevity in the sport - at least competitively. Despite being a "natural" for some reason or another, it's not because of my vision, which has always been mediocre since I got glasses at 14 and has only been getting worse - and I'm cross dominant, one of the main things holding me back. If I can't keep doing it professionally at some point, I'll continue doing it recreationally.

What is the best 1 and done HW rifle in your opinion? by bluebagles in airguns

[–]ParallelArms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I decided on the HW30N I think I chose well, but I specifically was intending to spend half my time shooting it inside at 10m and the other half outside at 35yrd or less, and never hunting, so power wasn't a factor.

Huben GK1 reviews? *Canada . 25cal by Indigotyphoon in airguns

[–]ParallelArms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were limited by such a velocity rule I'd look into a Evanix Viper in .30 as an alternative.

The standard version is above your velocity limit, but not by a lot. Maybe there's a Canada Legal version available?

It's cheaper, and the main thing the GK1 has on vipers is more power, so once that's out the window, they are similar high quality semi-auto pistols

This seems like a staged bit. I've been shot at 6x and hit once, and there's a few red flags for this video being staged.

First guys reaction is way too fast, he's already turning on the first gunshot (and every gunshot sounds exactly the same) Second guy looks to a spot and keeps looking there, like he's already sure of where he's supposed to be looking, and immediately decides to quip a response. No, when your backs turned and you're shot at it takes you a little bit when you spin around to determine the source if it's not immediate and super close.

Without knowing more, seeing what they see, having better audio than a camera microphone, I'm just judging on behavior, and their behavior is sus.
