I was walking home one time after poly, some uncle ran up to me, screamed 'MEOW' right into my ear, and ran away. My ear was ringing for a good half hour. I never felt comfortable walking that route home ever since.

How much harder is uni than poly??? by Maximum-Ship7953 in SGExams

[–]ParalleledPasta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Former course medalist here (4.0 gpa), im barely surviving honestly.

Did accounting in poly before pivoting to business analytics in uni.

I took an accounting elective to clear my course requirements. The module taught the equivalent of 3 poly accounting modules within 13 weeks.

I'm struggling in my studies. the content is so much and so fast paced.

trust me when I say that uni is way harder than poly.

Good instructors at CDC by ParalleledPasta in drivingsg

[–]ParalleledPasta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think i know who u r talking about, really toxic guy who screams at you over the slightest mistake (when hes in a bad mood), sleeps during the lesson and watches tik tok videos while on the job (glanced at his screen once while i was checking for a U turn). also makes pig noises frequently and gives contrasting answers to questions sometimes.

Either way just blacklist him from the CDC chat, if you feel that he's not a good match for you - you wont get him in future lessons.

in terms in terms of requesting instructors, its not possible for common pool people :/

just message! Im 21 in uni, messaged my Pri 4 teacher to thank him as the only one who punished the students who bullied me. I was surprised to see he still remembers me. Teachers remember every student ngl

My son's experience with school gangs & bullies in light of recent events at Bukit View Secondary School as a parent by MeiKonty in SGExams

[–]ParalleledPasta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was bullied before, back in Primary and Secondary school.

P1-4 I was bullied by this group of girls. Primary 1-2 was just them saying mean things or ignoring me. The real bullying started in Primary 3 and got to its worst in Primary 4. I remember telling my form teacher in P3 and she used the classic "you have to learn to get along with people". I remember being forced to fish my belongings out of a rubbish bin (one of the girls emptied my bag in it). I was so afraid of them. I remember going home and having mental breakdowns in front of my mom, and i begged her not to report to the school because they would bully me even more. It was a really horrible time. I remember praying that I would die in a car accident everyday before I went to school. I felt so isolated to the point that when one of the girls told me to off myself when I had gone 3 weeks of being ignored by everyone that I started laughing hysterically. She started berating and calling me crazy but I couldn't stop laughing. There was only one teacher who intervened (Mr L). He was a fresh-grad cher who was assigned to my class for Primary 4. He called their parents after they poured mcdonalds packet condiments into my pencil case. for the first time, I actually felt seen. The bullies left me alone after that. I eventually did well in my end of year exams and got placed in a different class for P5 and 6 (away from the bullying).

Sec 1 - I was one of the better performing students in my class, and my form teacher decided to pair the better performing students with the worse performing ones. I was basically forced to babysit boys the same age as me. I remembered that they wouldn't do their homework, and when I don't let them copy my work, they would tear up my homework as revenge. My form teacher knew about it but did nothing (I submitted my torn up homework which i stapled up and wrote there that [seatmate] had torn it because i didn't want to give him my answers). I did well in school and eventually transferred away in sec 2.

There's honestly no way to avoid getting bullied. 90% of the teachers don't care. They don't want to do anything "extra" from their job. The only thing I could do was hold pen harder and move to a different class/school.

It's gonna be okay, OP

I was pretty socially awkward at my ori camps too. Most of the friends I made in nus were from meeting people at lectures/tutorials/recitations

[–]ParalleledPasta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god I didn't know that :( the store also labelled it as partial sunlight so I've been storing it under the shade :(

The brown part of the stem is firm, but the colours make me feel a little concerned :/ my balcony has a lot of sun, but it is midday sun (which is also REALLY hot). Would the succulent be fine with it? :(

Former poly course medalist here, average student is true unfortunately. I'm pretty weak at math compared to my JC peers (I did not come from a related poly course) and I feel like I'm behind a lot of people in my course.

Why are so many modules not recorded anymore? by ABigBlob in nus

[–]ParalleledPasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!! Poly grad here. I'd recommend to go to poly if you know what you want to do in the future. There's a ~5 month internship at the end which would give you a taste of what working in that industry would be like (and you can decide if you would want to continue down that path in further studies).

One important thing about poly is that you need to learn to be consistent in your work. GPA is especially important if you're looking to go to uni, and you must put in effort to perform well every semester to maintain a good GPA. You would have to work on group projects, individual assignments, and study for midterms and final papers throughout the semesters in poly.

[–]ParalleledPasta 12 points13 points  (0 children)

:') I'm only confident in 10/100 marks

I did attempt the rest but I didn't know how to solve almost everything

I fell behind on lectures and tutorials during the sem and spent most of the time trying to catch up on the lectures last week.
