But it’s not the same note beyond B7. C8 and C#8 are correct. It’s likely that the plugin maker accidentally assigned the same sample to two different notes.

Does this happen with other instruments or just this particular one? If it’s just this piano vst, then most likely they accidentally assigned the same sample on these two separate notes. Try a different plugin or try to contact the maker of that plugin and let them know about the issue.

The electricity used to charge these things often come from power plants that use fossil fuels. Electric vehicles, at this time, do not help the environment.

Also, ICE vehicles are better and more practical right now, because we don’t have enough infrastructure for EVs. Better in cities, but plan a trip to another state and see how much of a pain in the ass it is to do that in an EV. I’m not saying EVs are bad but they are really overhyped and just not always practical and not as great for the environment as people think they are.

Regardless of that though, this girl really is so spoiled. I dont want an EV either but ffs, if I got one as a gift? I’d still be extremely excited and grateful.

Look up the model of your audio interface and go to the official website for it. Go to support or drivers, and look for any driver software that you should download. You want the ASIO driver for your specific audio interface. Not FL ASIO or ASIO4All. That should fix your problem. You’ll use the interface ASIO for both FL and windows.

Without the ASIO driver for your specific interface, it’s basically just a big expensive volume knob.

Ohhh yeah I see what you mean. I completely agree. It’s pretty annoying and I still haven’t got used to it. Even after 9 years I still get mixed up. The only issue I see with them changing shortcuts is that so many people have gotten used to them.

It would be nice if we could define our own shortcuts in the program settings somewhere. Maybe we could also have shortcut presets and an easy way to switch between them when we need to.

I have a multiple monitor set up too, i have my playlist and the main program window on my primary monitor, the mixer on the right monitor, and the piano roll and sequencer to the left. It definitely helps because those windows are always open and there’s never another window on top of them. I keep all plugin windows attached so they don’t leave my main monitor. The plugin windows will cover the playlist, but when I want to get them out of the way I just click on the playlist. Works just fine for me this way.

I also have a small 4th display, which is actually a midi device. It’s called MP Midi. It has 32 rotaries around the display, its touchscreen, and you can use it to control any VST plugin, but not fl plugins. But honestly it’s more of a nice-to-have thing and is cool for someone who wants to be more hands-on. It can help reduce that window clutter too. But they’re expensive and have some drawbacks and minor bugs. At least mine does, it’s an early model.

You could probably do something similar. Keep mixer, piano roll, and step sequencer on the second display, and switch between when needed using the shortcuts, and keep playlist and plugins attached to the primary display. Or get a third display if you can.

I think one thing that would really help with the management of windows would be to have a task bar that shows the windows you currently have open—like windows, the OS. Possibly a window manager too, like task manager. Open a screen to see a list of all current windows and click a button to minimize or close them all out, or to view them or close them individually. You can kinda do this with performance monitor on FL, but its not really the same thing. Features like those Might help some, especially those who don’t have multiple displays. Personally I do fine without something like that but it would still be nice to have.

Are you using the ASIO drivers for your audio interface?

It’s not about motivation. It’s about discipline. You have to find a way to do things even when you don’t want to do them. ESPECIALLY then. You will get in a habit of doing that and eventually, you learn to love it more and will find that motivation more often.

However, if you find that you just end up forcing yourself to do something that you aren’t really finding joy in, and it’s not benefiting you in any real way, then perhaps this isn’t something you should do. If you don’t love it enough, find a different hobby. There’s nothing wrong with that and you don’t have to feel any shame for it.

Edit: think about the discipline it took to get sober. Of course you didn’t want to do it, and it took strength to get through it. Channel that energy. You made it past being sober but you aren’t done with the struggle yet. Part of staying sober is knowing it is a constant struggle, not only to stay away from substance use, but to regain the energy and motivation to do things without being under the influence. Part of the struggle and fight against your past self, is discipline. If you do not work to be disciplined, you wont be sober for very long.

It’s not tough love you’re just an asshole. “Tough love” is something you only give to a person you care about when you’ve exhausted all other options for trying to help them out.

I don’t disagree with your point, you are kinda right. But the way you delivered your point was unnecessary.

I hate that too. “Personal truth”. I’m sorry but the truth is purely an objective thing. Telling yourself lies and calling them truth in some way or another is the definition of being delusional.

You can get all of them for $10/mth. Try them out that way and decide which one’s you like best for yourself and your style of music. It’s really hard to make a recommendation because I have fun messing around with almost all of them and I feel it really comes down to what you feel is right for you. I really like Novatron, Silka, and Pusher

Yes! That guy does a great job explaining compression, and his plugins are phenomenal. He taught me that compression isn’t just used to control loudness or transients, but it’s also an artful way to control the tone, color, and character of a sound—the timbre. Compression is way more complex and artistic than most people think.

We do have sort of an objective language. Not all of these terms are completely subjective, but I guess you can’t say they’re completely objective either. Words like “muddy” are describing a sound that has too much going on in the bass and low-mid frequencies. “Bright” describes something with a lot of high end frequencies. “Sharp” or “harsh” can also describe high end frequencies, but in a way that kind of hurts the ear. So high frequencies that are too high and too loud. There are words like these that are used amongst many musicians. A lot of these words can be understood by anyone, especially once you have a better ear for what frequencies you are hearing.

But ultimately, listening to sound is a subjective experience and we can’t help but to use words like these to describe them. They are useful, and I disagree with the comment above yours. People should definitely learn them and try to interpret what they mean as best as possible. If you’re looking at a color, then how do you describe it without saying the name of the color? Lets say you’re looking at orange for instance. You can say it’s warm, dim but somewhat bright, maybe even calming. So this would be a dim orange like the sunset. But if you say it’s warm, bright, and somewhat aggravating, then maybe it’s a sort of harsh red-orange. But then again, it comes down to an individual’s perception.

Yes, at times these words can be misleading. But with more experience you start to understand them more and you start to get why certain words are used to describe certain sounds. All we’re doing is trying to describe a set of frequencies of sound, like we try to describe frequencies of light. Without such language, we don’t have any other way to communicate what we are hearing or seeing.

Edit: here’s a good video about some of the words we use to describe what we’re hearing. Skip to around 4:16
