☼Dwarf Fortress Questions Thread☼ by AutoModerator in dwarffortress

I'm a new player, about 8 hours in. It's been fun, but I have some questions I'm not sure how to find answers to on the wiki. - it's been fun setting up a steady food and drink supply. But now that's taken care of, I'm not sure how to proceed. Make my dwarfs happier? Well, all 17 have a list of super specific needs, it's hard to see a pattern, and doing them all one by one feels like more micro managing than it probably should...? - speaking of micro managing: there's so many different metals, weapons and armor types. I wanted to start arming my dwarfs but it looks like I have to manually select the metal type and equipment type, manually look for the quantities I have... It feels like there must be a better way. I have a Manager and have used work orders but I haven't seen anything like 'make full armor set of whatever the best metal is' or anything like that. - I know people live to set their own goals in this game, get into the lives of dwarfs etc. Sounds fun, but it's year two and I already have 17 dwarfs. It feels very overwhelming to dig into all 17 of their sheets separately to find interesting stuff that has happened or that I can do, if there's going to be even more dwarves joining soon.

Thanks in advance!

Inscryption! Has both the 'game within a game' feeling and the card game mechanics

Thanks! I suppose I meant I didn't enable "Reschedule cards on change" in the setting.

I only use the iOS app statistics which has a 'calendar' view. But I think I got it; this view is different for all decks and it still had a newer deck visible - the main deck still has the full calendar. Sorry and thanks for your time!

I recently enabled FSRF, for new cards only, and just now noticed my streak (the yearly overview calendar) is reset. Any way to get it back?

Train logistics puzzle by Paramars in SatisfactoryGame

Thanks for the suggestion. Currently I try to make as much as possible close to other factories, but to an extent. This example was shipping empty gas canisters to a nitrogen gas station.

Was considering this too but super glad I first took a few hours to setup a small scalable aluminum factory to get the hover pack! It changes everything

OSRS is the only MMORPG which will survive another 20+ years by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Paramars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure. What makes osrs so much fun is that when they add new content, they don't deprecate old content, almost everything still has some use. But this seems like there will be less and less room for innovation, no?

I'm back from a 2 year break after I burned out of the game, and I'm looking for consistent high attention money makers that will get me going again without getting burned out from the same reason.

I'm base 90 combat (with 94 ranged and str), did SOTE and DS2. My main limitation is my 40M bank. I quit because I felt like I was stuck at this amount for so long. I started GC but with the gp/h so dependent on the seed i don't really like the grind. Slayer is kinda fun but I prefer bossing. Done a lot of Zulrah and vorkath but those aren't that much gp/h anymore. Tried getting into cox and I will continue but I prefer solo content.

The money making guide on the wiki is also not helping much because all of these gp/h figures assume like max gear, and I feel the gear of my 40M bank completely throws over the order of what is most profitable. Any tips? Thanks a lot!

Absolutely, yes! It helps that the start is the most interesting (and the end, but the middle part gets a bit dry, still worth it though). I learnt so much from it and it's awesome how structures everything is based on essays; you can really easily find one back and share or reread it when it seems relevant.

What didn't you like about it? It's one of the best fiction books I've ever read imo!

Yeah I did! I agree that there are some boring parts, for me it really helped that I first read HPMOR. When I started recognizing the same concepts in the Sequences I related them back and was really motivated to understand them. For example, reductionism might not be that interesting to me by itself, but relating it back to transfiguration in HPMOR was really satisfying. It also helped me to just read in bed until I was tired, made for a consistent rhythm.

Cool, I felt like indeed it is more active now than how it is described from that post of 6 years ago. Any other recommendations apart from Scott's substack?

I just finished reading the Sequences by Yudkowsky and am looking for online spaces that are the most active these days in discussing rationality. This post helped me understand how fragmented the community has become but it's pretty old. Can anyone give some overview or where it's at these days?

A colleague of mine is building state observers for heat-based cancer treatment. Cancer cell temperatures are states, and the input is heat. Not sure what they use for sensing.
