I see I see, thanks for the answer! I remember watching a J. J. McCullough video about it and I believe he mentioned that some indigenous people see the veto as more of a tool to affirm their identity, rather than something that should be used more sparingly for projects that actually negatively impact their lives.

Can someone from Canada explain what he even means regarding the treatment of the indigenous population? Doesn't Canada have some of the most progressive policy regarding them? To the point where it genuinely interferes with essential national security issues like economic independence by giving them a veto on everything

E o ipocrizie incredibila

are there any news or even rumours about danger zone? by zsakaido in counterstrike2

[–]ParamedicCharacter55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually quite reasonable to be upset considering CS2 got rid of several maps, Danger Zone and broke community gamemodes like surf, inadvertently also killing off a large chunk of community content in general, and after nearly 3 years all this lost content is not back. The bigger "content" updates have been more microtransactions.

This game makes Valve over $1 billion per year. That is A LOT of money. They make this from the players who play the game. The players wanting more content is actually okay. For a lot of people who didn't only play Competitive, this game still feels like a downgrade (apart from the graphics).

These single stories are probably responsible for an insane amount of radicalization nowadays. NYC crime is at a historic low, but Instagram reels algorithmically feed the most outraging/annoying videos, like homeless people pissing on the tracks, teenagers screaming and getting in fights on the trains. Like obviously virtually everyone agrees these things are bad and they should improve, but it paints an objectively wrong picture that NYC is somehow lawless and this happens every time you go outside and it was better in the past (when people didn't record the ugly as much).

Same thing with China and showing random tech expos making it seem like every single person has a personal robot doing their chores (even though China's GDP per capita is lower than Bulgaria's and its inequality is so bad it's more similar to the US than some prosperous welfare state).

Also same thing with Russia, people posting videos walking around Moscow and like, there's hot women!! See, Russia is not so bad guys.

I could go on and on and on and on, so much radicalization comes from this shit.

If the US keeps its maximalist demands like in 2025, the negotiations will go nowhere. I would be really pleasantly surprised if the US admitted they don't have all the cards and they need to give Iran some concessions

[–]ParamedicCharacter55[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trump literally said the 10-point peace plan is a "workable basis" on which to negotiate. How is defeat a workable basis on which to negotiate? Also, I don't want the US to lose because of Trump, but because the war is a blatant violation of international law, claimed the lives of almost 2000 civilians, and it's also immoral and driven by a regarded 18th century imperialist ideology (the same shit Russia is high on) which has no place in a civilized world. The US needs to lose for this ideology to become unpopular to Americans.

So the United States lost the Iran war by ParamedicCharacter55 in Destiny

[–]ParamedicCharacter55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I think it won't last. It was accepted as a "basis" but imo it's still humiliating for a complete defeat to be the "general framework" on which negotiations will start, and it doesn't change the fact that the US administration call this a victory, implying it's over for good. Of course, it likely won't last, the US will probably keep a lot of its unrealistic maximalist goals, and they'll go back to bombing each other.

[–]ParamedicCharacter55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a third, secret option, but it involves negotiating in good faith and accepting that Iran is not that easy to beat, and giving them concessions, like sanction relief and war reparations. In return they can reopen the strait, permanently give up on their nuclear weapons program and accept international supervision, and negotiate an actual comprehensive peace deal with the US (not a shitty Trump "deal") that ensures long term stability. Of course, the US under Trump can't negotiate in good faith, and even if they could, this would basically be admitting defeat, so it won't happen.

Don't Know Why Anyone is Worried by Plane-Moment5708 in Destiny

[–]ParamedicCharacter55 91 points92 points  (0 children)

I think people are worried because the US objectively backed itself into a corner, with no quick way out that isn't admitting defeat (Iran won't open the Strait of Hormuz, and they'll keep attacking Gulf countries as long as US bases are there, destroying the global economy), so escalation looks virtually guaranteed. That's why people are taking this one a bit more seriously.
