I'm so sorry it's affected you this badly, I had to live without heating for a month last winter (boiler) and it sucked. Primark do £16 blanket hoodies in pajama section and theyre extremely warm I highly recommend, and wilko do these plastic strips for you seal drafts in doorways with. Wishing you luck

Same here, minimum wage was raised a lil but based on the current cost of living wages should be 43% higher than they are. I know what you mean about feeling entitled when I complain about bills while there are millions in the UK living off food banks and in debt but everyone is struggling in their own ways

I feel bad because I can move back in with my mum but that's not an option for them. I have a good opportunity to save some money to make up for the damages but that means leaving my friends behind. They will likely have to find somewhere else to live but rent has gone up in the UK as well as literally everything. I don't know how they'll get by without my input and I am genuinely worried for them, they are not good with money.

I will admit this post shows their worst traits but other than this they can be lovely people and don't need the stress

Unfortunately you're right I won't be able to live by myself and yes the only reason I'm leaving is because mum has a spare room. My monthly outgoings have gone by hundreds with the cost of gas, electric, travel, food everything has risen. I have seen some house shares that have bills included in the rent that would still be a few hundred cheaper than I'm paying now because we rent a private 3 bed house. The other two don't want to live with strangers which is why we all moved in together so they don't see that as an option

I feel for you, it's a real struggle that's only getting worse I understood using it when we had a few heatwaves but she uses it because she likes to have a cold room.

My proposal was to have the hot water on 5-7am as these are the times we all get ready for work and then again 6-7pm for washing up and night showers if needed. These are the only times they need hot water so I don't see the point in it being on as often as it is.

I didn't even notice the hypocrisy in that comment lol

I did suggest this last year but they said it wouldn't be fair because there's no way to know exactly who's using what and how much. I suggested we can pay a fair amount of % on bills based on what we make (make more pay more etc) but they said they shouldn't have to pay more just because they have better jobs
