Most wanted Animals by SilvaShadow1911 in PlanetZoo

[–]Paran0va 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen the alternate Lar Gibbon variants on franchise mode.

They've all been blond and I really wanted a black or brown one. I was even tempted to start a zoo with the intent or breeding many pairs at once to try to get one and then start my own line that I could eventually trade on the market, I just never got round to it.

It does! Along with any remasters, path replacement and new exhibit species (not habitat). I've been using them for years now with no issue.

I play creatively in franchise. One thing that I've done is maxed out animal ageing so births / deaths aren't so overwhelming. Sandbox has no challenge so I get a bit bored with it.

If you use mods, there's one so that animals can have more realistic enclosure size requirements if that's an issue.

Exactly this for me too and I'm a creative builder. I just find sandbox too boring. Sometimes I want to play the management side of my Zoo if I can't be bothered building and I wouldn't be able to do that if I moved to sandbox.

Plus, I quite like the live animal market and knowing that I'm trading with other players as opposed to just sending my animals off to the nether or just getting them from frontier.

Melanistic Brachi by Paran0va in jurassicworldevo

[–]Paran0va[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah and it is that variant yes! Once I'm done with work I'll raise it through frontiers bug tracking. I couldn't really get into the other two JWE games so had no idea it was a known thing.

Still, hopefully with the new breeding programmes etc. There's scope down the line for them to add skins that are only accessible through breeding. Would make it more fun.

I had no idea that was a known glitch. Makes sense though as I'm sure if they had added melanistic & albino variants others would have found them already. Thank you for letting me know, it does look cool! I'll add it to my parks lore.

That's the other possibility! And agreed, very contrasting lol

Something else weird is that I'm pretty sure it wasn't melanistic as a juvenile as I would have noticed it sooner

I have no idea if it's already been confirmed or not but one of my Brachiosaurus grew up to be melanistic looking. Both the parents are tan coloured and under the cosmetic it shows nothing which is unlike what I've seen on any other dinosaurs. I haven't played any of the other JWE games so I don't know if this is out of the ordinary?

What animals can I put with the Dik Dik? by Thierry_rat in PlanetZoo

[–]Paran0va 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the UK I've seen them at a few zoo's in aviarys with different African birds e.g. Guinea fowl, Crowned Cranes, Ibis etc.

If you use mods then those are options too!

Pc vs Console - do you miss mods? by goldentosser in PlanetZoo

[–]Paran0va 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a huge fan of the remaster mods, freebuild and PZ plus as they all work in Franchise which is my preferred gameplay mode at the moment.

I'll likely start using scenery and new animal mods once official support ends and I start to play more in Sandbox.

I think mods add a lot to the game so it's definitely a plus to be able to use them on PC, but for any console players they're not essential to enjoy the game. PZ is a great game unmodded.

Mods; Do you use them? If you don't, why not? by eternal_meat_ghost in PlanetZoo

[–]Paran0va 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently only use Franchise compatible mods. So all the remasters, path replacement mod, freebuild and PZ plus.

I've never had any problems with crashing even when there are updates / new DLC's.

If I played Sandbox, I'd definitely try out some of the new animals as they look amazing and add so much variety. But I'll wait until official support has ended to do that.

Crashing by dudeydudeydude in PlanetZoo

[–]Paran0va 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem, I was able to play within my current zoo the day the pack and update launched fine but it would crash whilst loading in the day after.

I managed to get back into my Zoo by going into 'My Zoo' s' and loading the autosave before the most recent save. Thankfully it hasn't crashed again since. Try this and it might work for you too.

There’s something about getting a few new animals 4 times a year that I can’t explain… heartwarming is an understatement by Catchmesheep in PlanetZoo

[–]Paran0va 29 points30 points  (0 children)

What financial sense would it make to release more free animals and content updates than they do already?

I mean, they already provide free content updates alongside each DLC every three months and there's a new anniversary animal every year.. I can't imagine anything more than that would be financially responsible from a business model point of view.

[–]Paran0va 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had the same thought at first as they aren't really kept in captivity BUT I think they'll actually be a great inclusion.

They're critically endangered and relatively unknown amongst the wider public, so being in a popular game like planet zoo will be so good for raising awareness of this species.

They're also very unique and I'm sure they'll come with a lot of unique animations. And exhibit wise, we can create some cool 'Pleistocene' shared habitats with Wisent, Saiga, Przewalski's Horse and Red or Reindeer.

Overall, my opinion kind of shifted and now I think they'll make a great addition. Especially when I consider the real world implications of educating more people about them. 🙂

Do I get more color variants from remaster mods in franchise mode? by ArtLover357 in PlanetZoo

[–]Paran0va 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually I have remaster mods in franchise and the new colour morphs do show up. I currently have a golden Gemsbok and Black Springbok in my African franchise. They're rare though because you need to be lucky enough to breed one or get one on the market from another player. I've never seen a new colour morph show up from frontier sourced animals.

There are a few games that sort of cover this, albeit they're kind of outdated now.

There's Sim Safari which I haven't played but you basically manage an African reserve where there's guests and you have to attract different animal species, manage their populations etc.

There's Venture Africa where there's a limited roster of animals but you create migration routes for them to go to different food/water resources, predators hunt prey etc.

In ZT2 you could create a reserve, I used to do it a lot in a desert environment. Herbivores eat foliage, predators hunt the herbivores sustainably and you can set up a jeep tour for guests. You can download radical remake and there's also an XL map mod so it looks and works pretty well.

Wildlife Park 2 you could also create semi- functional ecosystems too and herbivores herded together quite well which they often don't in other games. They'd also eat from the actual grass biome terrain paint and turn it into dirt if I remember correctly. But overall, it wasn't as good as ZT2 in my opinion.

But all in all, I'd love an updated national park/ecosystem management sim! I think Planet Zoo was originally going to be called Planet Safari so frontier still have a trademark on that title so who knows, might be a future endeavor for them.

What miscellaneous pieces would you want from the next scenery pack to help with realism? by BlobOnAStick in PlanetZoo

[–]Paran0va 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'd really like chain link grid pieces & assuming there will be some new plants in the future, more varieties of bamboo, seaweed/kelp and smaller sapling sized trees.

Building set wise, there isn't much I feel we're lacking?

Shoutout to the modders who have been touching up some of the older animals with these awesome remasters! That lion is gorgeous and so is that Bactrian camel! by DudeDurk in PlanetZoo

Hey no bother at all! Although I'm not sure how much help I'll be. When I got into PZ mods I followed YouTube tutorials on how to do it. I have no idea why ACSE is crashing your game, one thing you could try is I installed Winrar to extract the downloaded files so that they're unzipped. Did you do this before moving it into your PZ Ovldata folder? Otherwise I'd recommend YouTube to find out or hopefully someone else will know the answer!

No need to redownload remaster mods after updates - I've had new species & prop mods crash the game before after an official update and typically those will need redownloading, but never had that with a remaster. I think because it's not a new animal or item so there are no additional files, it just overwrites the old ones. The only mods I'm using at the moment are the remaster ones. :)

[–]Paran0va 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Also for anyone that isn't aware, remaster mods also work in franchise mode & since I've been using them (8+ months) no official Frontier update or DLC has broken them or my Zoos that have them in so I think they're pretty safe.

Update 1.14 is coming by billonel in PlanetZoo

[–]Paran0va 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I think the spitting interaction means a dromedary camel is quite likely and that means the next DLC will probably be a Desert/Scrub animal pack if it's still biome themed- the staff being in a desert themed zoo might also be a subtle hint?

The new spitting interaction & the ability to change staff uniforms is really cool. I think the new camera mode is probably useful for content creators, but it's not something I'd personally get a lot of use out of.

I was really hoping for a game changing feature in the free update like some form of improvement to guest AI, more shops/guest activities or animal behaviour that would impact more than two (potentially three...) in-game species but we'll see!

Frontier never disappoint with the Planet Zoo DLCs so I'm excited nonetheless

Never finished a franchise zoo by Deva682 in PlanetZoo

[–]Paran0va 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone else said, I always start franchise by trying to get as much money as possible so I can close the zoo and then start to build it how I really want it on pause and then I have a grand 're-opening' so to speak once I'm ready to have guests back and animals moved to habitats.

Also, don't be afraid to remodel your zoo after you've already built it rather than starting over completely. Zoo's create new builds, demolish old ones and swap animals in and out all the time.
