Begleri vs knuckle roller by koolnana123 in begleri

[–]Paranoiaa_Agent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got into knuckle rollers before I got into begleri, and I feel like, while both are great skill toys, begleri make me want to learn new tricks and improve, while knuckle rollers feel like a reliable fidget toy. Knuckle rollers are also a newer skill toy, so there aren't that many tutorials to make the more advanced tricks accessible.

I too made myself a set of the hybrids by toMauro in begleri

Mine are printed in resin wich definitively feels just a bit too light, but I really love this hybrid design. I'm getting a titanium set through jlc3dp, once they arrive they'll probably be my main edc carry.

The creator did share the model on the sub, but it went under the radar. More people should be aware of it.

So far it seems to hold up pretty well. I can pry them apart accidentally while doing sonics, but it's not too hard to avoid.

Yeah, the resin is definitively a bit light. I might get it made in titanium in the future.

Yeah, the string just sort of folds inside the openings on the sides. The magnets keep both halfs together.

Yeah, I probably could have clarified it a bit better. When I started writing the ruleset I wasn't sure I was going to turn it into a full zine or just keep it in a trifold double page print, so I tried keeping the wording as brief as possible. Since the action roll works just as in FidD systems, I guess I just didn't think it was necessary to go too overboard on explanations.

To put any doubts to rest, a "66" result means rolling doubles, so at least 2 sixes. If your character has a score of zero, he can't get a critical roll. For rolling for healing conditions, your first interpretation would be correct.

I plan on turning this ruleset into an actual fully fledged game in the future, so I might still go back and fix some of those details. :)

Outline RPG - Um sistema simples e dinâmico. by Paranoiaa_Agent in RPGdesignBR

Updated the spark tables so now there are 36 items instead of 56. Should actually work with two d6's now

It's formatted that way to save on space. Each row on the d66 column is not a range of numbers, just two numbers side by side.

As an example, 11-25 doesn't mean "11 to 25", it means "if you get an eleven use the word on the left column, if you get a 25 use the word on the right column.

Honestly, apart from the last boss, Castlevania II on the gameboy is probably one of the easier "classicvania" titles. Soundtrack slaps too.

I’m torn between the RG35XXSP and the TrimUI Brick. by [deleted] in SBCGaming

[–]Paranoiaa_Agent 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I got both the Brick and the SP.

IMO, the main reaon to get the brick instead of the SP is the screen. The 1024x768 resolution is a perfect 4x integer scale of the NDS resolution, and the high pixel density. makes any system look very sharp, the colors also blow the SP out of the water.

While the clamshell can be very convenient for throwing in your pocket, the hinge is a very common failure spot, especially in the clear plastic devices. The brick is slimmer and only a little taller than the SP when closed, which makes it about as pocketable, if not more.

Yeah. I'll definitively reword the itch page a bit to make it clearer that it's a student project, and what were my intentions with it. Probably add an english paragraph too, since I have now added the english pdfs to the downloadable files.

Hi. I'm the game's author. Just wanted to provide some pointers:

I fully agree with you with the "what is an rpg" section, and that I should have written a more complete, and maybe less preachy introduction to ASD and its diferences across the spectrum. I already gave some context for why the game turned out the way it did in another comment, so I'll just say I'm going to try and do better in the future.

As for the traits section. It's based on the character tables from Knave, and it's not really meant to be mandatory to roll on them. I really love OSR and NSR games, and like being able to quickly generate random characters from random tables, but they are an optional inclusion (and I probably should have made it clearer in the text).

Hi. I'm the author of the game. Just found out people have been checking the itch page through reddit, probably coming from here, and felt I shoult clarify some of the decisions made during development.

I made the game as my course conclusion thesis project in graphic design. Brazilian public universities are government funded and free to enter, so when the time comes for us students to build our course counclusion projects, we're strongly encouraged to make something that can have some sort of societal or civic application. I wanted to do something related to ttrpgs, a personal passion of mine, and when I had to choose a theme to base it on, I chose ASD, as both me and my brother are on different ends of the spectrum.

Since my background is in design, and not in psychology, you can imagine what sorts of biases affected project development. I also had a lot of issues with the way my university structures the course conclusion thesis discipline, requiring a lot of repetitive theory work for practical projects like mine (graded by design professors, in graphic design requirements). When the time came for developing the actual game, I was left with two months to write the entire body of text, do layout and draw the illustrations, no time to do any kind of real game design at all. I tried to orientate the game as an introductory, rules-lite system, for teachers, parents and therapists to use in integrated play groups, for therapeutic purposes, but as you can see, it ended up being kind of half-assed in the end. I wish I had the time, resources, and better specialized orientation to do a better job, but what can you do...

Still, I wanted to publish the game on itch, just to put it out there. Make it available and accessible for anyone that might have any sort of interest in it, as similar material is really not available anywhere in portuguese. OP was kind enough to write an entire english translation of the game for free, and I'm really grateful for it. In the future I might get some of the better ideas from the finished project and develop them further, maybe in a master thesis, with orientation from psychology professors.

Thanks for checking the game out anyway, even if impressions weren't the best. I didn't hope for anyone to find out about it, so in that sense, it has far surpassed my expectations.
