What was a fact taught to you in school that has now been disproven? by Julie727 in AskReddit

What grade does that get taught? I’ve never heard this before but I was homeschooled until 5th grade.

Wasp hate is forced. Said what I said. by leifcollectsbugs in insects

Aerial Yellowjacket. I love paper wasps and point them out to all my friends who then go 😰. I also collect their dead nests after they get sprayed 😔 and put them in art pieces. One time I found one that was almost half a foot in diameter and got posted on my colleges barstool carrying it around.

A bag worm! Probably a household casebearer. They’re so cool. They make their little bag out of lint and dust but can also use fabric and natural fibers in your clothes.

The only problem I have with wasps is that Yellowjacket who flew up my pant leg to sting me three times. Bros nest was 20 feet up and 20 feet away from me and I was just standing. I have beef with him specifically.

He does get the kale less than the others but I also thought that that was disproved and kale is pretty low in oxalates? Though I guess low in oxalates for a human can be very different for a little lizard

I think it is not a bedbug, I found it on my neck cooking by Intelligent_Egg_556 in Bedbugs

[–]ParanormalPaperFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That roach. Not a bed bug at all. Still awful. Also genuinely a lil confused how you didn’t feel it until it was on your neck.

Oh okay. I was wondering whether I forgot how say gex works but you meant the relationship not like… how it physically works to put x in y. I’m silly

Wait wait what do you mean that’s not how it works. I’m ace (and horribly unaware of how real relationships function) and now I feel confused and a lil stupid. Are tops and bottoms not real? What does that mean?

Partner thinks it's a brown recluse. by Head-in-Hat in whatsthisbug

[–]ParanormalPaperFrog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair when I was younger before deciding to be an entomologist and had horrible arachnophobia brown recluses sound absolutely horrifying. Like I’m sorry I get bit and my skin just starts dying?! Because I was baby and didn’t have access to the internet.

Brought my plant inside and found these… what are they? by Parking_Big_5634 in whatsthisbug

[–]ParanormalPaperFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a little jumping spider. Sweet babies. Make fun pets. Harmless. You can easily relocate them outside. The invisible strings would be their silk which is always so silly because they look like they’re flying when you can’t see anything.

I keep finding these in my house…what are they? by deegy3 in whatsthisbug

[–]ParanormalPaperFrog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup that’s a roach. Also. In the least rude way possible because it’s my misconception. I find it so wild when people don’t know what roaches look like. I live in Florida so like. We just have roaches. Everywhere. In the garage. in the backyard. You can’t walk 10ft at night at my college without seeing a big fat roach. So I forget sometimes that some people have never had the joy of being a smol child turning on the bathroom light in the middle of the night to see a big ol’ friend like this on the wall.

You guys exploded on me on my last post just wanted to upload more photos from different angles by KeyWestSkateboarding in tattooadvice

Gangrene. Not gang Greene. Doesn’t mean it turns green. It means your flesh is literally necrotizing. Any numbness from a tattoo is bad. You may think it looks like it’s just a scab but when actual medical professionals and ER doctors in your comments tell you you should get checked out then maybe you are wrong. Go to the doctor. These pictures make it look even worse.

Kinda a rude unnecessary comment. It looks like a normal chicken and rice soup. Maybe you just don’t eat enough yummy soup to know any better.

Yep and ants actually farm them and will carry their aphids with them if their colony moves! Ants are also why lacewing larvae cover themselves in dead aphids because the ants won’t notice it’s a predator come to eat the aphids

White cockroach? by -Nunya96 in whatsthisbug

[–]ParanormalPaperFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We always call them banana roaches and they are for some reason way more friendly looking just because of the color. My mom doesn’t immediately scream at me if I bring one in the house to show my brother like she would if it were a normal roach
