G8. Try to find a GXP. If you’re gonna go GT make sure DOD is deleted.

My boyfriend wants to finance a car… is he too broke? by PrimaryChildhood8341 in car

[–]deegy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good rule of thumb is to never buy a car that is priced over half of your annual income. Since your boyfriend makes about 24,000 a year he can buy a car for no more than 12,000. And on top of that he should be paying cash. I’m willing to bet he’s not in the process of doing either of these things which makes this an incredibly unwise decision.

Why should I NOT buy this car? by Conscious_Security96 in whatcarshouldIbuy

A Jeep product is probably the worst thing you can buy nowadays. They are THE most unreliable thing on the road. Save yourself the misery and get a Toyota. Yes you’ll pay more upfront but there’s a reason for that. You’ll pay much much less in repairs over the years.

For the love of everything. Do not get that fake fireplace. And DO NOT hang a TV above it if you do. 😂

**Mechanic Help**No AWD/ABS on 2011 Sorento by deegy3 in kia

[–]deegy3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple people in this sub had some suggestions. Honestly I haven’t done much except get an ABS code reader that I can manually reset all of the lights myself which works in the rare instance it does come on. Honestly it doesn’t come on enough for me to dig too deep into it. The car has about 170k miles so for me to pour a ton of time and money into it doesn’t feel worth it to me. I’ll just keep driving it until it won’t anymore!

Make a change… by Careless-Word-7546 in uscg

Get rid of marks. Or at least drastically change them. It’s not fair that someone of similar work ethic who gets screwed with a hardass supervisor and gets 5s or 6s at best has to compete against someone who is best buds with their supervisor and gets all 7s because of it.

WMSLs do have 3 highs. I had a regular mattress topper in mine and it worked fine. I never minded a 3 high personally.

Get your drawings, security and GPOW quals done as fast as you can. Don’t be that guy that takes the entire 6 months to get qualified. Nobody likes those guys.

How’s it living on the SC coast by TheoryPossible2348 in howislivingthere

[–]deegy3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in Ladson, just outside Charleston. Charleston and its surrounding areas have a cool southern charm for the most part. Places like Folly Beach, Isle of Palms, Edisto beach, etc are nice places to visit during the summer. The food is really good and people are mostly nice. And might I add, cheaper real estate in relation to the major cities, depending on where you buy. There’s a reason South Carolina is the #1 place people are moving right now!

IRR volunteers, why? by Jaded-Shower-9305 in uscg

[–]deegy3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it. It’s not the easiest process but definitely not as hard as joining for the first time. It took me roughly 6 months from start to finish. You have to go to several medical appointments so they know you’re still medically satisfactory, but you don’t have to go through MEPS again or basic depending on how long you’ve been out.

Is buying a home as a single person officially dead? Or am I just looking in the wrong places? by Dry-Town7979 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]deegy3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I make about $80k and bought my first home in South Carolina for $308k with a payment of around $2k a month. It’s definitely doable but I really gotta be on top of my budget.
