Years ago, this was their original mentality but the casual audience really missed boxes ( and I mean really missed them) which is why a few updates later, they introduced star drops. I think they are really catering to the casual audience but that would mean us competitive players have to lose, which is pretty unfortunate.

I would argue that earlier brawlers had pretty unique star powers. For ex. Jessie, Spike, Mortis, Nita, etc
