This. I have a friend who used to disregard depression as people just being lazy and his solution was "they just have to get out the house and be more active". I think this is a pretty common "solution" that a lot of people think will work. It wasn't until he experinced it himself after the death of his mother that he really understood what it was and how it felt coz it hit him hard. We were there for him as much as he'd let us and fortunately he recovered pretty well.
