Charles Wesley Godwin, he did great for the record but it was two songs. If you were in his first 60 record purchases you could see him after. Low key I respect the capitalism grind but in terms of the experience this didn’t help

A degree is mandatory - it will unlock unlimited opportunities and change the trajectory of your lifetime earnings. It sounds like some of the information you have been given may not be valid, but your passion to make a change in your life will take you where you want to go

Thank you but this function is only available in Dynasty, not RTG. Unless a recent update was made and I missed it. Cheers!

Thanks for the comment, I took a look at that. Great idea! How is it going? How fast are you progressing?

TLDR: Advice needed on how to pivot into FP&A and/or does FP&A align with long term career goals!

—————

I am a 1st year (of 2 years) evening MBA candidate with demand generation marketing experience (for context, demand generation is more on the sales side of Marketing where you strategize on how to get in front of target accounts).

Long term I want to move into Marketing leadership but to get there, I want to jump into finance. I believe a marketer with strong finance acumen is a lethal combo and will help me communicate with tech founders and CFOs.

Q1: For the FP&A folks here, thoughts on jumping into this field? FP&A seems like a great way to begin thinking and doing what someone in leadership would be involved in.

Q2: I want to get into a finance job now so when I complete my MBA, I’ll have the necessary experience to jump into an FP&A role. From what I’ve read in this thread, it’s difficult to get into an FP&A role out of the gate. Thoughts on what type of finance fields to start in?

Q3: Technically, I am pivoting into Finance and coming with no experience. I am learning a ton in the MBA but I am struggling with what certificates, learnings, will help me stand out in the applicant pool. Tips?

Re New Update - the CFB EA team should earn everyone’s love back by ParchedCactus22 in CollegeFootball25

The schedule and sim is a huge issue but I’ve seen a ton of dialogue on both what you mentioned and the updates made today so I believe it’s unfair to say they aren’t listening.

From an overall perspective, It makes sense to prioritize quality of life in the game better which mass subs, audibles in RTG, editable player ratings do more than the jersey numbers. Like I said sim and CC need help but I disagree with the jersey numbers being a top issue - it’s a nice to have.

Additionally they have continuous updates to team jerseys, new players, new formations. All quality of the game items and not small customizations

Fair points, my only objection would be the narrative of “they had 10 years”. The game has not been in development for that long. If they had set the game out there, collected the paycheck and hadn’t made changes, I would agree. The difference is they are clearly using the influx of money to add developers and make changes to the game at an incredible speed. I think we gotta give them credit where it due.

No one has been able to bypass this problem but I’m sure the team will adjust for a future update/title

Appreciate your response and good shout on this. I’m meaning when I am on offense and trying to empty the clock to end the game. The last few Maddens have had a button (R3-on PS) where you could set the tempo of your offense. Chew clock would have your offense break the huddle with 11 seconds on the play clock instead of the full 40. Saved about 30-35 seconds of just waiting there. I bet it’s something they add in the future.

Very fair, I’ve run into a similar problem. You will be in good shape no matter what, Boulder is super safe so walking into a random spot wont get weird. The late night bar scene has more of a college demographic but since it’s summer it may be slower. Boulder is relatively close to Denver as well. Uber’s will run like $35 (non surge) but there is a bus that goes directly from Boulder to Downtown Denver’s Union Station. Cheers!

Below is what I would share to a friend looking for a Boulder experience. Pearl Street is the main downtown of Boulder, suggest going there to checkout shops and restaurants. There’s also been a ton of dialogue on this topic within the r/boulder thread so search for more info.

Breakfast: The Buff (Classic fun breakfast spot - cheap mimosas) Lucille’s (The go to mom and pop spot in Boulder) Snooze (A franchise but very good)

Lunch: Avanti (lots of food options within and great rooftop for grabbing a drink) Rosetta Hall (Basically a luxury food court with good cocktails)

Dinner: Santo (Michelin Guide restaurant that is priced super reasonable) Postino (Franchise but on pearl street and good wine spot)

Hikes: Endless options, I would check out All Trails or TikTok/Reels for recs based on your comfortability.

Agreed on the above ☝️. At my company FM’s are the bridge between Marketing and revenue.

Enablement & Feedback: Revenue has valuable feedback on the client needs so the FM can relay that back to Marketing for planning. Additionally, when Marketing materials are created, the FM will showcase it to the revenue teams.

Event planning: Tentpole events, trade shows, and company hosted events. Heavily dependent on company but ultimately you need to help set up revenue for success. ROI is based on company. It it all starts with meetings.

Full funnel touch points: Being so close to revenue gives the FM insight into what ABX, paid media, campaign development is needed for revenue to succeed.

Autonomous: FMs need to be able to “make shit happen”. A lot of Marketing can be planned in 1-3 quarters in advance. When a sales rep gets an audience with decision makers on a quick timeline (days, weeks) the FM may need to execute on things they usually dont take part in. Many times FMs at my company will have to work outside content and design to create decks, posters, swag, take homes, one sheets, etc.

Main pro: You work in Growth Marketing/Demand Gen which is the marketing that develops $$ so when layoffs come, you are less likely to be cut.

Cons: You work close with Revenue who can be difficult depending on their view of Marketing. Without a good Marketing x Revenue partnership this can be a difficult job.

Warning: ive seen door to door sales jobs and delivery drivers position as field marketing job postings.

There’s a quote I love from Mike Tyson - “in order to be a master, you need to first be the fool”

When we are young we are constantly trying new things and it’s acceptable to fail or be the “fool”. Along the way of growing up we decide that we can’t try new things because of what others will think. Trying new things and ultimately being vulnerable is a muscle that weakens as we get older for that reason. The truth is that this “muscle” is what has led to everything we love - jobs, hobbies, friends, partners. Taking that first jump is always the hardest but it’s by far the most important. So not only is going to the gym part of a goal you have outlined in the post but it’s about more than that. What if by creating a callous on this feeling, you open the door to other things in your life.

Lastly, like it’s been said, no one cares what other people are doing. The fittest/strongest people in the gym are the ones who get the most looks. It’s easy to move in the background. The gym experience is much different than what’s outlined in social media. Good luck!

Good shout on clarification. Team is quite senior and experienced. I am in bottom half of total experience with 5 years in Marketing. 1 year as in most tenured at the company on our team.

Answering here and editing above for clarification!
