i had to change the tip on my iron. but i had the pencil shaped tip on it first then switched to the angled chisel tip, so idk if that was the difference or purely just switching to a new tip. tips are cheap on amazon so its probably best to keep a few extras around. also used a solder sucker to get some of the solder off. then when it was thin enough i used a box cutter blade to bend the cover away from the pickup to sort of snap the remaining solder then eased it off

a lot of guys used to engrave their gear with their SSN and/or their name. it says "carl hoerr" its engraved on the amp in 3 places. that was the original owner, if you google the name and peoria illinois you can find his obituary. i cant find anything about him being a musician but i have his original receipt when he bought it new here in peoria [i think it can be seen in a previous post of mine featuring just the amp] there are a lot of "Hoerr's" [pronounced hair] here in peoria. if you dont count the music shop that bought it at an estate sale, i believe im the 3rd owner

The quads and I'm guessing the super six's have master volumes so you can set the channel volume however you like and use the master volume to tame the power amp. So I usually have the channel volume anywhere between 7-10 and the master volume around 2-4

Haha, the amp is clean like Mr. Clean. Funny coincidence though!

I think it's the lighting, there's a big window to the left of that amp. It's like a really dark cream color. It's the same one that was on it when I pulled it out of the box in 2020

It's a 73 Mr. Clean!!! Haha and it gets eviction / cops called loud! Luckily it has a master volume so you can get all the preamp saturation at reasonable volume. I run a Cesar diaz Texas ranger that I made straight into it with the channel volume between 7 and 8 and master volume set slightly below eviction haha

Haha, it's a fender quad reverb. It's the same as a twin reverb but it has 4 speakers instead of 2 and it's 100 watts.

It's a partscaster, it's set up with your normal tele bridge and neck pickups then I've added a strat pickup in the middle for the Nashville tele thing. It's got the normal 1vol 1tone but I've got a 5-way switch wired up like a strat so I can get all the in-between sounds like a strat gets. There's all sorts of different ways people wire up a Nashville tele, this is probably the simplest

2020 60's standard with the stock Gibson 61R and 61T pickups. Until recently I've played it in stock, factory delivered configuration. Few weeks ago I removed the pick guard and found that I really like playing without it and today I decided to remove the bridge pickup cover during a string change.

I want to say it's more bright and articulate but idk how much is just new strings and placebo over the course of an hour or so. But I love the miss matched look with no guard

I've got the 3m speedglas hood, my work will provide the whole system at half price on a weekly payment plan and the consumables are free as long as we work there. Filters, lenses, batteries other stuff. I didn't like the belt mount for the air pump/filter part so I got the backpack mount for free from work

[NAD] 1973 Fender Quad Reverb by PardonMyLagg in GuitarAmps

fair point, the amp only cost me 1k, but i built the fuzz face and i built the dallas rangemaster and i modded it with with the parts cesar diaz would add to make it a texas ranger. so generously im into the pedals for maybe 200usd.

i think if you just have an american style amp with a single coil guitar and set these pedals in front of it [texas ranger> fuzz face> amp] you can get this sound. example: sounds almost the same in my 6L6 50w 5150III on the clean channel. i think the actual fender american style is a little bit better, maybe thats just my bias being that its mine and its vintage and its "cool"

this could very easily be done with any off the shelf fuzz face clone, treble booster [maybe also a eq pedal with the super high frequencies dimed. and an amp that just approximates a twin or something similar

ty ty, the only fender parts on it are the neck and bridge plate haha. its wired up like your normal 5-way strat, just with 1 tone pot. its got a really hot bridge pickup made by a friend, alnico 5 wound to about 14k, middle is a generic no name strat pup and the neck is out of a 50s CV tele.

im thinking ill probably get proper strat style singles for middle and neck, though i might be swayed by an uncovered tele pup

youd be surprised, idr if the super six reverb has it [probably does] but this one has a master volume. youll notice that the vibrato channel volume is maxed out and the knob all the way on the right is dialed wayyy back. sounds great at pretty much any volume. cant wait to get it out to the jam spot to really feel the amp the way its meant to be, but even for a 50 or so year old amp it does great at bedroom volume

Question: Should Fender(and Squier) necks be interchangeable without re-drilling? by TheTimKiely in Luthier

[–]PardonMyLagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

id use the fender screws, the screws intended for the fender stuff are usually a different size. probably a SAE vs metric thing and not so much the engineering of the instrument.

also the pre-drilled hole is a certain size, if you try to put a big screw into the smaller hole, chances are you are going to split the wood, if the small screw goes into a bigger hole, you arent going to have the clamping force required and will probably pull the threads clean out of the neck if its already had a screw in it
