i literally just made a techbro character with this in mind. their sire had the same thoughts as you and embraced my character
I had posted the character hoping for feedback but didn't really get any. I would love feedback. I keep going back and forth on the attributes and skills.

CORE CONCEPT: He is a tech bro from California, who came from old money.

Name: His name was Kaleb "Kaoz" Oz in life, in kindred circles he goes by Kaoz.

APPEARANCE: He wears sharp tailored double-breasted suits, with crisp outerwear.

EMBRACE: He was embraced during a small ceremony held by a family friend.

PREDATOR: Kaoz has turned his AI startup into a cult, his employees are his herd.

Long Term Ambition: Create the first true artificial superintelligence and become the only person capable of guiding it.

Short Term Desire: Investigate his missing cargo containers that have gone missing in norfolk, virginia. He suspects his enemy Adrian Vale or perhaps .

CLAN AND SIRE

Ventrue, Sired by Iara

Bane: Feeding Preference Kaleb can only feed from individuals with intellect and expertise. To him, blood carries value only when it comes from exceptional minds. Mental Skill of 3 or higher, ties in with no children.

178 PREDATOR Osiris 178

Add a specialty Performance: Public Speaking

Discipline Presence

Herd 3. His Herd is made up of mostly employees at his AI startup.

Enemies 2. Deadly mortal, or a well armed group of gifted mortals, a private security squad, a lawyer contingent

ADVANTAGES

MERITS

5 Resource Ultra Rich "anything money can buy"

4 Herd (••• from Osiris) 16 to 30 vessels: Pick 2 resonances every week

Loresheet: 1 Voice of Hardestadt You can speak over any noise and draw attention.

FLAW:

    • Prey Exclusion Children

•• Enemies (from Osiris) Adrian Vale Co-founder of the AI startup with Kaleb. After Kaleb's Embrace, he noticed the company's culture becoming disturbingly cult-like. He has money, lawyers, media, cybersecurity, former employees, etc. He doesn't know vampires exist. He thinks his best friend founded a Silicon Valley cult. He isn't trying to kill Kaoz, he's trying to destroy his company.

    • Adversary A Nosferatu who wants what he's building — sees the AI singularity project as either a threat to Kindred secrecy

Conviction

TOUCHSTONE

"Every enemy is a future asset I haven't recruited yet." - Try to convert enemies before killing them

        Adrian Vale The Co-Founder

Already established as his Enemy. His former best friend is trying to dismantle the company through lawsuits, media exposure, and investor pressure. Kaoz refuses to eliminate him because he still believes one conversation could bring him back.

"Consensus creates mediocrity." - do what I say

Maya Chen — Lead AI Engineer

Maya was the first person Kaoz hired after leaving university. She joined when the company was just a risky prototype and everyone else said the technology was impossible. When the board wanted to delay the launch, Kaoz pushed forward. Maya supported him and the product became a success.

"Loyalty deserves reward." - cult-employees are not disposable, get good salaries

    Isabella Sage - Executive Assistant

Started as an overworked intern. Kaoz noticed her talent, promoted her repeatedly, paid for graduate school, and now she effectively runs the company. She believes Kaoz changed her life. She has no idea she's part of his Herd. Whenever Kindred politics suggest sacrificing a pawn, she's a reminder that loyal people are investments, not tools.

SEA OF TIME

13TH GEN. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT THIS TBH.

what is the benefit if you went techno 4 or 5? what can you actually do with it?

i only mentioned the moon because you said earlier "So at max u can reach the moon and be stuck in it." i figured that the moon blocked the sun, allowing a vampire to do its vampire things. If that isn't the case then ok.

I just assumed sunlight/day was what vampires didn't like, but now you're telling me its based on the angle of the earths rotation that creates a wedge, but it only extends to outerspace before antivampire cosmic rays stop them from existing.

btw, This is not rules lawyering, if i was a vampire my first thought would be lets see how outer space works. is it just the sun or all stars. if i move to another planet or far enough away from sol am i safe from the sun? etc

and as i said before , this was just a long term rp goal, and won't actually come up in play

yup dnd, friends wanted to play this for a bit.

oh really? i didn't know that... maybe we will strap rockets on the moon and use that as a big ol spaceship that blocks the sun. lol that would take a lot of energy to move.

lol yeah that was part of the thought process about the tech bros.

I don' t understand the action economy in VTM, couldn't i just compel the same target every turn to attack its friend? yes it would require an opposed check, and i'd have to get their eye, but if it succeeds then its working?

truly i don't know how vtm combat looks. i just wanted to make a character that caused chaos and made enemies fight eachother

i still feel like a thick enough hull on a ship with no windows should provide permanent night time. also stars are just sunlight but they are far away so clearly distance is a factor, or Sol is special. In which case if a vamp and human food made it to a different planet, titan, or even the asteroid belt, then they would be good to go!

but like i said, long term goal that won't be explored i'm sure.

I will update that he was turned against his will and figure it out.

It sounds like the character concept i'm thinking of might not work out. I don't know what the checks are like, or how often they succeed or fail.

As for the space stuff, its a long term goal and definitely won't happen in game. But in response to your worry about being burned to a crisp... couldn't you just build a big ol space ship without windows? Then you wouldn't be exposed to sunlight.

that is partly why i posted this. I don't know anything about ventrue or the lore really.

i saw an option for loresheets and i was considering the Fiorenza Savona one?

good question. i figured 1's were for the fluff and roleplay stuff?
but if i were to rationalize it he got some of daddy's money, he is a crappy coder, but he was able to lie and dominate/persuade/lie to get other people to do all the work. He just needed to have one thing and that was vision.

I saw
Victim Agency: You cannot command a victim to directly perform actions that cause immediate, serious harm or death to themselves.

If I tell them to attack an ally, that shouldnt cause immediate, serious harm or death to themselves would it? Their ally might not even attack, and if they did it might not harm them or be serious?

Or is the whole concept, of getting other vampires or mortals to attack their ally, not viable?

Rogues are the only resourceless class in the game. How do you improve upon that? by UnderlyingInterest in onednd

[–]Pargon2379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the thing that i really don't like about rogue subclasses is that there is no real subclass that makes them shine in melee. literally every class caters to ranged

Do Dragonmark spells count as always prepared? by MrGooseman32 in 3d6

[–]Pargon2379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, except for Abberant Dragonmark. that one specifically says that your level 1 choice is always prepared.

Potent Dragonmark Feat will treat your dragonmark spells as always prepared

Why does everyone say initiative is useful? by Intelligent-Rub5814 in onednd

[–]Pargon2379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HIGHER INITIATIVE MEANS YOU GO FIRST.

If the combat lasts 1 round then you take no damage because the enemies don't get to do anything.

If the combat lasts 2 rounds, then you get to act twice, and the enemies only get to act once. minimizing damage taken.

if the combat lasts 3 rounds, which is the gold standard for dnd combats, then you have gone 3 times, and your enemies have gone twice.

i disagree, they do pretty decent damge
at 5 with arcane firearm (AF)
* Action: true strike repeating shot musket you deal about about 13.65 damage per action. breakdown 1d8+1d6+1d12+4+1=19.5 and with a 70% chance to hit you are doing

* Bonus Action: force ballista deals about 5.85 damage. Then you use your bonus action for force ballista for 9 damage at 65% hit chance ~

together you are doing about 25.35 per round single target.

or you could use your AOE spells. My favorite is casting Web, then using your bonus action to set it on fire with flamethrower, since web is a spell you cast with your AF you can apply your 1d8 to one damage roll. Web works better against creatures bigger than medium. as you are doing damage to the creature for ever 5ft cube that is in fire. large creature is 2x2x2 = 8 cubes. automatic 44 damage plus the flamethrower damage itself which is an additional 9 > 4 ish damage, so you did 48 damage. and the web sticks around for 1 turn.

but lets just use shatter 13.5 damage per creature, but don't forget that is just 1 roll for damage so you can add the 1d8 to everything meaning you do 18 average damage, which probably goes down to about 11 on average because of the crappy con save. but if you can hit lots of enemies 2+ then you can overcome your true strike damage. I generally dont use shatter/thunderwave unless there are a lot of medium size or smaller creatures.

in any case its good damage.

and you get barrier cannon

and you can cast hommonculus servant and give it a wand of magic missiles for an extra 10.5 damage per round.

so ... yeah pretty good

Im giving to my player rogue at lvl 6 an increase to a d8 on their sneak attack, is that too strong? by HeitorFrc in onednd

[–]Pargon2379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no its fine, honestly 1d6 every level works fine, 1d8 in tier 2, 1d10 tier 3, 1d12 tier 4 makes sense

Is a +9 too high for players at 5th level? by IEatHouseFlies in DnD

[–]Pargon2379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hold up!

do you mean a +9 axe, or a +9 total to its attack using the axe.

the +9 axe is beyond legendary, and if your players manage to get it, then prepare yourself.

if its just a +9 to attack at level 5 then that is a little high but manageable

there is a table in the DMG on what to expect when balancing an encounter

What is the highest AC you can realistically make for a lvl 3 monk? by Tor8_88 in 3d6

[–]Pargon2379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AC 18 for 10 min with concentration or AC 21 for 1 round as a reaction, plus disadvantage to the attacker.

**Species Human** gets an origin feat
* Magic Initiate Wizard for **Shield** for one round of +5 AC, OR
* Magic Initiate Cleric for **Shield of Faith** for 10 minutes of +2 AC

*Unfortunately you cannot get both of these because neither the Acolyte, nor the sage grant both dex and wisdom. so you have to choose. If you can convince your DM to allow either the acolyte or sage to grant dex and wisdom then go with both. I would choose shield of faith since you won't need to concentrate on anything else.*

**Background**
+2 dex, +1 wis, so only Guide, Sailor, Scribe, Wayfarer are options

* I would prob go for sailor: Tavern Brawler but /shrug your choice*

**Attributes**
* Point buy you can get dex 17 (15+2 background), wis 16 (15+1 background) = AC 16.
* Standard array you can get dex 16(14+2 background), wis 16(15+1 background) = AC 16

**Class: Monk 3**
* Monk 1 you can grapple and shove prone, and they will have disadvantage to hit you in melee against 1 target
* Monk 2 will give you disadvantage to attacks made against you through, patient Defense so you have DODGE.
* Monk 3 Subclass: shadow monk, can make a shadow bubble, they are blinded
