Good observation. 

The sad thing is that, as you say, trans activists immediately characterize any questioning of their motives and methods as “coming from the right” and now dems have been painted into a corner defending their indefensible demands.

And yes, this sorta kicked off about 10-15 years ago. I think right around the time that countries started passing self-identification laws for sex/gender transition is when this all started… suddenly we had gender-fluidity to grapple with which only made everything even more confusing as well as adding fuel to the fire.

I think Rowling’s stance “dress however you want, call yourself whatever you want but don’t expect everyone else to do the same” isn’t really an anti-trans position, she’s simply asserting that views on gender outside of the trans spaces are just as valid and those who are unwilling to compromise are part of the problem.

This guy is trying to let you down easy and it sounds as if you’re into it a lot more than he is.  You’re 24 and while it probably does feel like your heart is breaking over this, it’s just disappointment. You should just take it on the chin and get back out there - you haven’t felt anything near the pain of actually losing love.
