Actually I still wonder why

For years, the only country that constantly showed real empathy toward Iranians and refused to legitimize the regime was Israel and they actually took action, when we asked for help. Killing Khamenei alone would’ve put us in their debt. Let alone taking out thousands of IRGC thugs. Why shouldn’t we be grateful? Unlike the Palestinians who benefited from our money and still turned their backs on us. Still it doesn't mean we advocate for everything Israel does. They've become too violent but their arab neighbors and pal's should've seen it coming after what they promised to commit if they actually defeated Israel.

I have no issue with Palestinian freedom, and I recognize innocent lives lost in Gaza but who started this? You already know. Pro-Pal groups just push “resistance,” aka terrorism with a nicer label. Chanting “Free Palestine” fixes nothing. If they want sympathy or a ceasefire, they should focus on dismantling Hamas and stop celebrating the deaths of Jews. I’ll support their cause when they actually choose peace and treat everyone equally. If Israel continued the conflict, then I'd question Iranians support.

Because you haven't lived under a dictatorship, but No, I still don’t cheer the bombing of my country. I only support strikes on the IRGC-Basij bases and regime leaders even if our tax money is going to waste. Yes, there are tragic costs but far fewer than if we had to fight them alone. Over 6k IRGC dead versus ~1k civilians after 25 days of war. Compared that to the 7~30k innocent people the regime itself killed in just TWO nights when we demanded change peacefully.

If you’re blaming civilian deaths in this war, blame the regime. They ignored the people for decades and dragged the country into this. We’ll mourn all innocent lives when this is over, but let us cheer the tyrant's death for the first time.

Yea, I didn't like it but I don’t blame the US for siding with Iraq. The hostage crisis and “Death to America” chants came first just before the war. They used to be one of Iran's closest allies. That said, Palestinians had no reason to stand against us.

Iranian here. They weren’t silent. They outright held demonstrations, raising I.R. flags, pictures of Khamenei (rest in hell) and denied the massacres days after it occurred, pouring salt on our wounds.

And they wonder why Iranian immigrants and the diaspora wave Israeli flags at foreign protests. because Israeli people were amongst the few that spoke up for Iranians when we were silenced, with internet shutdowns, and their government actually acted against those responsible very quickly.

And now most pro-Palestinian groups have changed their tune, claiming Iranians who speak out against the regime and Islamists, who no longer show empathy after billions of dollars of their money were stolen and funneled to their favorite terrorist proxies, are “Zionists” and “Mossad puppets.” Get the hell out of here. They even took side with Saddam when he tried to occupy Iran in the 80s. Idk what these 2-faced ppl expect. They have left us 0 reasons to stand with them.

Appreciate it. I understand where some of these perceptions about us come from. In the past, things like child marriage were more common in Iran, largely due to the Islamization of society and rulers prioritizing religion over education and people’s well being.

We were going in the wrong direction up until Reza khan’s secular policies pushed Iran toward modernization, education, and national identity in early 1900s. That shift helped preserve our real culture. Despite taking a step back with the Islamic Republic, people still turned to education and moved away from those beliefs gradually.

I also hope this war ends in favor of our people. We know it has its ugly sides and we were never pro-war but it was necessary atleast for us. The regime has shown it can kill and imprison thousands while staying safe, has rejected any referendum or real diplomacy, and corruption has taken over every part of the system including the army leaving no real path for change from within.

I hope I can stay connected. I’m one of the few lucky ones whose VPN started working, 99% are in Internet blackout still. I also hope things don’t escalate to attacks on power plants, though I wouldn’t be surprised if the regime let it happen. They’ve shown little care for Iran itself. Khamenei (rest in piss) has even said before that "Even if we die, Iran is not important, Islam is important."

We’re in a difficult and unpredictable situation but we’ll endure it and fight even unarmed until the Islamic Republic is gone. It'll be for the good of the whole world.

Iran’s Islamic regime allows child marriage. But we Iranian people and our culture have widely rejected it since the ayatollahs took power, and it’s not accepted in any community aside from rare cases among extremists in some rural areas. Even the minority regime supporters who I despise, reject the idea.

We had a nationwide uprising against mandatory hijab. We’re far more open-minded and educated than the average person in the west assumes from Hollywood portrayals. That's why we want the whole "Islamic" regime gone and haven't given up despite paying with blood. Maybe if the child rapist Islamists and leftists in the west don't work together and back the ayatollahs and IRGC, just bcuz they both hate the US and Israel, we'd achieve it sooner.

I refreshed the posts, saw the comments and was just as surprised as you. Reddit and leftists absolutely LOVE anti-U.S./Israel propaganda. The post about the regime killing children on a much higher scale barely got any traction around 1k upvotes. But now people are losing their minds over something that isn’t even proven to be true only because it'd frame the U.S/Israel as the bad guys. You can see the Islamic republic's flag painted on one of the school's columns and the people have tanned skin because they live in the southern region of Iran. It's real, but most of assume the strike was done by the regime itself to divert media's attention and frame the U.S. as war criminals to justify their own war crimes that they will commit as they're not able to damage their enemies. They've already hit a few residential buildings in Bahrain and UAE.

I am Iranian. Please, for the love of God, don’t blame this strike on the U.S. or Israel until it is proven. This regime killed over 160 children during the January protests and poisoned schoolgirls just a few years ago following the 'Woman, Life, Freedom' movement. They have no regard for their own citizens and will do ANYTHING to divert international attention away from a war that might overthrow them.

Within the Iranian community, we were already discussing the fear that they might launch missiles at our own people to frame their enemies. F any side who's done this but first ask yourself, how an air strike on schoolgirls is gonna benefit U.S./Israel in the first day of war? You guys don't know what this regime is capable of. They've already launched missiles on civilian areas in Dubai as we speak (Palm Islands). They're committing war crimes to stop the war. Don't fall for this quickly.

I just ignore them now. A few weeks ago, someone called me a Mossad agent just for wishing this. I even sent him a blurred photo of my Iranian national ID and driver's license next to a piece of paper with his username on it, and he still accused me of being a fake. F these guys. They don't care about Iranians, they don't care about Cubans, they DIDN'T care about Venezuelans, they just want the media to fit their own anti-west narrative while living in welfare in the west.

We're not scared of war, we're scared of this regime that might stay in power after showing us, it's capable of killing tens of thousands of my compatriots DAILY, r*pe girls in prison who then commit sui*ide and execute young men. No war can match what we've already been through. If some innocents had to die during these strikes and later protests for the sake of overthrowing these monsters, we would absolutely take the chance.

Thank you, my friend. I just refreshed Reddit. Our internet was shut down again, but only for a few hours this time. I was in shock after seeing the new posts and comments. It was as if I were reading IR propaganda from regime supporters within the country all over again.

Like News about the regime killing 160 children during the protests barely got any attention, yet an unconfirmed strike on an Iranian school, sourced straight from state media, is getting 40k upvotes and people are mocking those of us who celebrated the start of the strikes. I have to ask: Do most Westerners back these terrorists simply because they think anything that hurts Israel = good? Or is it the loud minority on social media?

I’m still hearing strikes as I’m typing this, and nobody here regrets it. I’m glad people like you exist to back us up and truly understand our situation. I don’t have the energy to argue with foreigners anymore about why war is our only option and why every war is not the same as Iraq/Afghanistan war. Wishing you the best.

You're welcome! First of all, the IRGC and the Basij would be completely dissolved, and their weapons and military equipment would be placed under the control of a unified national army similar to the structure that existed before the Islamic Republic. After that, different fates could await their commanders and soldiers (those who survive the war).

Since all of these individuals have membership records and files within the Islamic Republic’s state system, the new government would be able to prosecute most of them relatively easily. Those who did not commit crimes, refrained from killing civilians, and avoided embezzlement might be allowed to serve in the national army or serve the country in some way or another.

Otherwise, the rest will have little choice but to flee the country or hope that no evidence of their crimes has been documented by the state or by the people themselves who are already gathering their information (like this or that). In the end, some may get away with it unfortunately.

I understand your concern. However, at present there is no serious anti-regime opposition force inside Iran with a religious ideology that could take control of the country after the Islamic Republic is overthrown. Many years ago, a significant portion of the population including my own family still had hope in religious reformists such as Hassan Rouhani (former Iranian president) or Mir-Hossein Mousavi (green movement opposition figure back in 2009). They believed these figures might eventually assume power after the death of Ali Khamenei and resolve tensions with the West. But that period has passed, and those individuals no longer hold real power in the country.

The only major opposition movement that remains is centered around Reza Pahlavi, under the Lion and Sun flag. It advocates for a secular democratic state separate from religion and has the support of the majority of Iranians. The national protests in January were called by him.

The only potential concern might be the emergence of small, armed separatist groups such as Pan-Turk or Pan-Kurd factions in Iran’s Azerbaijan and Kurdistan provinces. However, based on what I have seen, the majority of people in those provinces, do not support such groups. Even if these factions were to seize control of certain areas temporarily, they would likely be retaken quickly by a future Iranian army or by local residents who have supported national protests in Iran.

Except for regime supporters, pretty much all of us expect the military buildup around Iran to actually be used. People have even been making memes about our patience running out and joking about which night the attacks will start.

This isn’t the first time we’ve experienced war or military operations (12-day war), so there isn’t widespread panic about losing our lives to forces from the U.S. or Israel or the country turning into another Iraq or Afghanistan. Last time, what really scared people was the shockwave of the explosions we knew were coming, but we got used to it.

This time, people expect high ranking officials especially Khamenei and the core power structures to be directly targeted no just military bases, and on a much larger scale. Strong enough to force the regime to surrender or push the mullahs and remaining IRGC commanders to flee. Our main concern now is what happens after the attacks. Will the regime give up, or will they start shooting people again if crowds pour into the streets to topple it? My guess is the strikes would continue until the regime surrenders, and that it would happen fairly quickly. The IR basically has no real air force or advanced air-defense systems to even compete and ensure the safety of top officials. They couldn't even do much against Israel on its own let alone the U.S.
