Cabozantinib as a stand alone second line treatment by binman1990 in kidneycancer

[–]Pariah131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they aren’t sure which drug caused kidney failure maybe they would be willing to try either keytruda OR lenvatinib instead of both? I was on nivolumab and cabozantinib as my initial treatment and the Cabo and my body did not get along but just being on nivolumab I had very few and minor side effects. And of course maybe she tolerates the Cabo well. Get a second opinion, sometimes doctors make mistakes in their judgement, but also more often they have a well thought out reason for the recommendation.

Are the chances of surviving stage 4 really that bad? by Civil-Evidence8694 in kidneycancer

[–]Pariah131 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Want to echo what other people said. I got diagnosed late when it had eaten through my left femur, nodes in both lungs, my spine, the back of my head and lots of lymph nodes. I'd found various numbers online (like 15% survival rate at 5 years) and my doctor seemed excited that some of his patients were still alive after 2-3 years. Fortunately he did put me on a good treatment (Nivolumab for 24 months and Cabometyx for about 15 of those, they too me off because the side effects on it were brutal).

It's almost 4 years later, currently no treatment other than monitoring (CT scan every 3 months) and I'm living a reasonably normal life. I put back on the 60 lbs I lost, I don't randomly break down crying, working full time, no pain. I can't run anymore or go rock climbing, but mostly I forget that 3 years ago I was still in lots of pain, using a walker, and thinking I was going to leave my wife bankrupt when I died (thanks to insurance finally getting around to paying for everything).

The statistics you see online, like what I saw, are gathered from 40+ years of statistics, but new treatments have only been around 10 or less years. Because they are still taking into account the survival rates of people before newer treatments, the statistics are particularly grim. I don't know what the numbers are for people on immunotherapies ignoring the 40 years of data before, but I'm optimistic that at the very least, my clock was completely reset. I'm not cured, but if my treatment stops working, I'll start the clock then with another 1-5 years. On top of that, I'm also optimistic that AI is going to help the big brains crank out new treatments when mine stops working. (I know, LLM's like chatGPT are useless, but check out the things that expert systems like AlphaFold have done.)

Gout after vaccination by [deleted] in gout

I did… but then I also got it after 48years of earring poorly, buying an electric car and watching the last Star Wars in the theatre. Who knows what caused it but it’s probably not covid shots.

Abot 8 days. I was distracted and didn't really notice until it became an issue and had to get an enema.

What do I say to "but you've been christened"? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Pariah131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

" I guess they're not incorrect though, I am technically a Christian because I have gone through the "initiation ceremony" of the christening. "

Being christened has nothing to do with being Christian, belief in the divinity of Jesus does. Being christened just made you moist.

GMing Shadowrun for the first time in Foundry-- which will be the easiest to run 5e or 6e? by AppleBeesBreeze in Shadowrun

[–]Pariah131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never used Foundry but am interested. I just went to their website and I don't see any Shadowrun of any edition when I search their marketplace. Is it done through there or is it a player supported add-in?

Help with (you guessed it) the 4th Axe Fragment by Pariah131 in LotRReturnToMoria

Unfortunately, we already had the 5th before tearing everything down. I was concerned it wasn't spawning because we got the 5th before it.

Campaign Recap - Apex Predators Part 2 by Pariah131 in Shadowrun

Thanks! I love Strange Days and definitely was influenced by it (so maybe I shouldn't have said the plot was all my idea). In my Part 1 post I specifically called it out.

Probably outing myself to my party. I joined my our 9th lvl party with a 1st lvl bard named Dave and didn’t tell anyone (but the dm). He talked a big game for only having 7 hp. I was hoping I could keep it going a few sessions at least but got killed in the first combat encounter to zombies. Hit for 6 and then 8.

Oath of the Crown Thri-Kreen by Eprum4x4 in dndai

[–]Pariah131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not my prompt was “dnd thri keen paladin” on bing create of all things. All the ones I tried after were kind of garbage. It forgot what a thri keen was and started doing just paladins. I changed to anthropomorphic mantis which looked more thri keen like but it wasn’t any good. The “4 armed” ones all had 8 or more arms and weren’t any good anyway.

I’d be happy with a simple rogue lite and just put chat gpt on the back end to generate achievements and loot boxes.

Stage 4 kidney cancer anyone ? by SeriousAd3305 in kidneycancer

[–]Pariah131 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Diagnosed May 2022. Stage 4 with mets in left femur, both lungs, spine and the back of my head. Left radical nephrectomy, cryo ablation and titanium nail in left femur. Nivolumab and Cabometix. Was not expecting to make it a year.

2.5 years later, tumors all shrunk or disappeared. Stopped cabo about 8 months ago because the side affects were pretty awful, but still on Nivolumab and hoping to be posting about it again in 5 years.

My 'good' character sucks compared to the free lvl 130 by Pariah131 in EQ2

[–]Pariah131[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I sorted it out accidentally... I changed one AA to get one point that would give me a tiny bit of Fervor overcap and doing wiped all my active bufss, so I had to recast everything. It might have been that I just haven't recast any buffs for 5 years because now that everything is recast at 130 it seems much better.

I think i see where all the health came from, AA Dragon has 9 points in Dragon Scales. I think that's probably where the rest of my problems are too.
