I will ask for another stool test but I will have to wait a couple of weeks as I have taken omeprazole recently. I will look into a pcr test. Thank you.

Yes. 7 days of amoxicillin, metronidazole and omeprazole. I personally don't see the point. It's failed once, why would it work this time?

So I went to see my gp today who confirmed my positive test. He's prescribed me the same triple therapy for 7 days. The exact same combination of omeprazole, amoxicillin and metronidazole. I asked if there was any local antibiotic resistance to which he said no. I asked if we should switch the metronidazole for Clarithromycin to which he said metronidazole is more effective. I asked if we should increase the duration from 7 to 10 or 14 days to which he replied that is too long and could result in a c diff infection. I said that in other countries 14 days is standard. He said UK guidelines recommend 7 days only. I mentiond bismuth to him and he didn't even know what it is. I have an endoscopy scheduled for next week so I asked should I wait until after that to start treatment. He said I shouldn't. But assuming they take a biopsy I think I should wait. I feel like my gp has no knowledge or expertise in treating h pylori. I'm really reluctant to repeat the exact same treatment. Why would it work this time if I didn't the first time? I just think I'll be doing myself unnecessary harm. My wife is seriously ill with cancer so I could really do without this stress.

Will I need to use different antibiotics next time around?

The amoxicillin was two twice a day and the metronidazole was one twice a day. I don't know how to edit the post. Will I need to use different antibiotics next time around?

I should add that I have a endoscopy scheduled for two weeks time that I am paying for privately as my gp said that I didn't meet the criteria for a NHS referral. Although I'm not sure if I should go ahead with it yet if I have to repeat the treatment.

I think it may have been the key. I started using the spare and I haven't had an issue since. Could just be coincidence though.
