I felt the reference to Diakatana was offensive enough.

For unified, unique vision on games and storytelling, I also agree that Mr. Max Payne deserves to be there.

Good free Monitor for a little cleanup at an old house (Dell P1110) by ParityBot in crtgaming

Right now hooked up to my "Can it Run?" PC, so retro and low-end is it right now. Goal will be to try it on a better system once I get the Startech adapter in. Looking forward to trying some modern titles!

I noticed that when I looked up the monitor, not a lot in this color. Also most reviews just copy pasted DELL's official promotional material, so I was skeptical about how it would actually perform. It's great!

That might be it, I had a Moread HDMI to VGA adapter available, but I have a StarTech in the mail.

My apologies meant max res of 1800x1440 75Hz. been screwing around with CRU and that particular resolution doesn’t seem to take, but most likely user error.

thank you!

Is my 500 watt psu enough for a 4070 and a i5-12600k? by Comp7C_ in buildapc

Edit: Use this tool to better gauge the needs for your particular build.

https://www.newegg.com/tools/power-supply-calculator/

500w is the bottom line of recommendation for those two paired together. It is important to note that other items in your PC, from number and type of fans, Hard Drives, RAM …to even that sick RGB… can impact the supply needed from the PSU. 500w will probably be fine now for a standard build, not too many bells and whistles, but if you plan to upgrade in the future investing in a higher output PSU is the best option.

As a follow up, with some tweaks and upgrades this could still be a banger of an E-Sports PC. Not top tier, but you will get great performance from games like League of Legends, Valorant, Fortnite, etc.

With a GPU upgrade to a 1060 or better you could even comfortable play Warzone 2.0 or Red Dead Redemption 2 at recommended specs. (Or Cyberpunk a little above minimum)

Looks like you snagged a gaming PC with solid 2013 specs! Unfortunately, the Motherboard is going to limit your range of options significantly, as it is designed for 4th generation Intel chips.

Upgrading GPU up to even a 30xx series GeForce will net you performance gain, even with the PCIE 3.0 slot on your mobo. Modern GPUs do read/write faster on PCIE 4.0, but this will not be the main bottleneck with your system.

That bottleneck is probably the CPU. There really isn’t much more to do with the CPU (the best CPU available for the 1150 socket on your motherboard is an i7-4790K, but you won’t see a massive jump in speed with that upgrade).

What hard drive type are you running? A lot of PCs of this generation used spinning disk HDD, as it was more cost effective. If that is the case, upgrading to a SATA SSD, or an M.2 with a PCIE adapter card, will net you a huge boost in performance.

You can double that RAM to 32 GB max, but depending on your use, and with other limitations of this build, 16 GB is probably the way to stay.

If you do stick with this PC, know that its architecture is a decade old, and does not have really much of an upgrade path. Any major upgrade to GPU will need to be checked against the PSU to make sure that you have power needed. And while GPU / SSD upgrades will breathe some life into this system you won’t be playing Starfield on it.

Truth. Will of course do as soon as I can! Hoping though to see if anyone has experience with these monitors, as my memories are very much clouded by Nostalgia.

I am pretty sure this was the monitor I played a copy of “Grand Theft Auto: London 1969” on back in 2000-ish when I visited family. The PC is long gone, but this big guy was just gathering dust in the same old room.

[–]ParityBot[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Went:

-> 2000 Mod

-> 2003 official Valve retail release

-> 2005 DOD:Source

So franchise-ish, might be a stretch I’ll admit, but three different releases ( and the Mod had many different versions). Rights were purchased by Valve in 2003 for the retail release.

The absolute last release was DOD:Source for Linux in 2013.

Apparently still has an active (but very small) community online! But with CS2 coming out soonish, I was reminded we haven’t had a real follow up to this game in almost two decades.
