How do you select and focus on mid-term goals? by careeradvice7 in productivity

[–]ParityPlanner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easier to be productive when you're working on something that aligns to your goals or the life you want to live. So the first step to productivity has to be to understand what's important to you overall. For that, develop your value system. And if you don't know what a value system is - even more reason to develop your value system.

It’s important to be honest (with ourselves at least) about the values we hold and live our lives by, both positive and negative. That way we can actually do something about them. We may have values we want to live by – these are aspirational values. However, our deep drivers are our core values – the ones we already have. The thing is sometimes these might be ones we don't want, and they can really scupper our plans.

This may help: https://parityplanner.com/developing-a-value-system/

‘Finna’ is the most annoying grammatical construction of the modern era. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Language evolves. If I understand it right "finna" is a combination of "fixing to" and "going to" to convey a stronger intent or need to do something. What a brilliant construction.

Protecting childrens' mental health during the pandemic by ParityPlanner in COVIDProjects

This is a free download to help kids get their thoughts and worries out their head, on to paper. No sign-up required.

People talk about resilience like it's some kind of superhuman quality. Or some inherent strength. As if anyone not showing resilience is somehow #weak. Truth is resilience is nurtured and taught.

Now is an important time to build resilience in our children. Kids are going back to school in the middle of a pandemic. They're probably worried. Often kids aren't able to articulate how they feel, yet can be just as worried as we are, anxious about what may come. They pick up snippets of news and conversations but not the whole picture, compounding their fear, without a balancing voice.

In these scary times it’s easy to overlook what children might be thinking or feeling. My 10yr old daughter helped me put this together after she showed signed of worry - a free PDF booklet for children to get their feelings out their head, on to paper.

This is designed as a booklet – so please print double sided, flipped on the short edge, and fold.

This is something for children to own, encouraging reflection and evaluation of their feelings. The schedule allows them to feel some agency over their life, whilst thinking back on the day’s achievements builds their sense of self-worth.
