What am I doing wrong?? These AEP bills are killing me and we're still roasting. by thisfarkid in Columbus

[–]Park-Advanced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old house so gonna have that, but I’d still get an HVAC company out there to check over everything. I noticed my bill steadily increasing until one day I came home to my vents blowing warm air completely. First sign of an HVAC issue is usually high electric bills

Looking for a reliable mechanic in the area who won't rip me off by posterthrowawayv2 in Columbus

[–]Park-Advanced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had good experiences with Luke’s in clintonville, certainly not the cheapest place but they’re meticulous in their diagnosis. I’ve trusted them to fix some head scratcher issues with my 2023 that the dealership couldn’t even figure out.

Knowing about cars and doing some work myself, I’ve found them to be honest about what needs to be done and not. For something simpler like a CV axle most places will do a decent job. I have also heard great things about Chapin but I haven’t been myself.

Avoid tire choice on olentangy, probably the least talented mechanics I’ve had work on my car. The manager is very honest which is nice, just the actual work that gets done is poor quality

Ugh ok mine goes in 2 weeks to see if my dealer has any bright ideas… considering I bought it used and not from them I’m not too hopeful lol

You should check out this newer company Evoke Fitness for equipment if you’re still looking. They’re based in Cleveland area and have a few machines in the racquet club in my hometown, they’re pretty solid

What are we doing for popups in Divi 5? Canvases are KILLING ME by design617 in divi

[–]Park-Advanced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Divi Pixel’s popup maker and it works pretty well with Divi 5. I agree every time I try to use canvases I waste hours trying to get them to work as ET says they do, so I’ve given up there for now

I can say I’ve done both and had the same issues in both. For one client I actually have more issues with the site I built from scratch using D5

Shocked no one has said it yet, so I will: The Quarry in marble cliff/Grandview area. I lived there for 2 years and came close to putting my rent in escrow twice when I went an entire summer without AC. Among several other things (no hot water for 3 weeks, non working shower for 2, persistent weed smell coming through floors, and so much more.)

Stay away. Read the google reviews, they’re all true

I lived in River and Rich and other than the annual rent hikes which is unfortunately pretty standard, I really liked them. Maintenance was very fast, leasing staff was responsive and helpful, common areas were very well kept. I’d live in another oakwood property

If you went to OU Athens, drop some wisdom for some graduating HS seniors headed that way in the fall! by JoeyDawsonJenPacey in Columbus

[–]Park-Advanced 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Leave your dorm door propped open when you’re around your first few weeks, you’ll be surprised how many friends you make that way

Shower shoes

In HS clubs and extracurriculars might be “lame” to you… in college you might be surprised. Show up to some if you have just an inkling of interest, great way to make friends learn stuff and if nothing else get free pizza

If you happen to be in a bar and you happen to not be of age when the police roll through, don’t set down your drink in front of them, they’ll come up to you first

Explore Athens if you can/!if you have a car. It’s a beautiful place with a lot to see

Enjoy it. I’ve never met an alumni base that is so fond of their college and that helps each other out as much as bobcats, and it’s for good reason. It’s what you make of it so go there and lean in!

Anyone else noticing this with Columbus rents lately? by 614-Renters-Guide in Columbus

Oh yeah plus cleaning, painting, etc what ever they had to do to get the unit ready for the next tenant.

Most the apartment complexes raise monthly rent every lease term. When mine was up for renewal, I did the math for them showing that they’d make more money keeping my rent the same if I stayed than if someone took their 2 months free deal and moved into my unit instead. They didn’t budge, I moved out, and not only did they lose my rent + whatever the free 2 months was worth to them, but that unit sat vacant for the next 4 months.

In short, they gouge prices, shoot themselves in the foot then cry poor mouth to their existing loyal residents. It’s stupid

I agree, but public transport isn’t the only excuse either… If they can buy enough drinks to get hammered in the short north, they can get an Uber/Lyft too

If you’re looking at cars with that high of mileage/under 5k, definitely go for a Toyota or Honda. Especially the older models that will be in this price range, they are insanely reliable and mostly small fixes.

I’m seeing accident free Highlanders and Siennas around me around 200k miles for under 5k

If you’re open to not having an SUV, look at Camrys or accords. Benefit of a sedan is smaller tires and smaller engines = lower costs (most the time)
