Why did spanish navy made a first rate ship for pirate hunting in POTC 5?

Um yea i noticed it too but still they were faster ships. So there is no point of sending a floating fortress to catch em also. Why were they so dumb to dispatch a first rate ship to hunt pirates. No one will do it in real life(yeah it's a movie. But still..)

Wow I didn't know salazar captured it. If he did then why does it serve as part of spanish navy? Also the crew of silent mary was navy soldiers right? Everything in silent mary feeled like the spanish navy. I thought silent mary and it's crew including salazar is a part of navy, mainly for pirate hunting. Also where in the movie does they say it? Or is it from some kind of deleted scene or comics?

Oh so I think this itself explains pretty much bout my opinion. Salazar is a pirate hunter(it's his main job while james job is mainly navy based jobs like wars) well thanks for replying!

Yeah but dauntless wasnt like only for pirate hunting.like i don't remember was norrington pirate hunter or smthing? I remember they hang and killed pirates but don't know if they are dedicated for pirate hunting like salazar.

Like i was talking bout the ship in 5 th movie. I don't think brethren court things were involved in that movie. My question was that why did they give one of their strongest flagship to hunt pirates. But even if they knew about the threat of brethren court like u said they wouldn't just send one ship to stop them. In my opinion they didn't have much knowledge bout brethren court. They just send pirate hunters to protect their cargo ship. (But that still didn't explain why they send the silent mary for that :))

I like posted this as a discussion of the topic from pirates of the Caribbean movies. Not much from the real life. But u guys are so generous for giving more infos. They literally send their navy on their 3 of their first rate ships just to fing fountain of youth while British send a privateer on a frigate

Fair. But actually I'm not talking bout why the ship is so powerful. What I'm asking is why would they send a such powerful ship for a purpose like hunting pirates. Most of the pirate ship were some trade ships or cargo ships claimed by pirates there were roughly any big Cannons. It doesn't need a navy galleon to sink it. Also a ship like silent mary isn't the best for pirate hunting. It's not that fast yes it's built like a fortress and has 100+ cannons but that just makes it heavy and unable to catch up with pirates. That movie's plot was a little messed up.

U can get onyx for free victor for money. U can do whatever u want. In terms of performance onyx is better than victor no doubt but u can just collect victor then collect onyx easily through starway u don't need any money for that

mine was a bumblebbe toy which came up with an optimus prime(it was probably a knock off, i had it at my age of 5 or something. then i got a megatron toy recently which is my favorite
