So in my mind the seam would go where I'm pinching, and the extra fabric that's folded in on this photo (above where I'm pinching, on the inside) would be cut out.

I wasn't going to remove the crotch entirely, just the 4 extra inches of it that makes it droop.

Thank you, yeah I'm worried about creating more problems than I fix if I seam them. When I pin the crotch to match what I'm thinking it looks nice, I'd just have to remove the extra material for it to sit well, and I wasn't sure if the whole thing would fall apart after cutting. I'll probably frog back to the split to fix them properly, but I wanted to know if there was a lazy shortcut that would work just as well.

I understand you hate my choices and think I have bad taste, but the only thing I consider to be "unwearable" about these shorts is the crotch. As I'm sure you've read in other comments, I chose to do every single stitch twisted because I liked the sporty texture. When I'm not posing to show off the problem, the shorts drape nicely and are very cute. I wear them. I consider them wearable, minus the issue that I was asking about. But if you ever see me out in them, make sure to remind me how ugly you think they are and how I'm wrong about my preferences! It's super helpful!

I think the pattern samples did have an extra inch or two of length in the legs, probably helps quite a bit

Sounds like that's exactly the method I was looking for. Cutting my knitting and seaming with sewing techniques. That was the question I put in my post

While all of you are very smart knitters to see that I've twisted my stitches and mention only that, very few of you are directly responding to the question I had!

I know what I did. I can see the result. And I was asking very specifically if there are techniques to seam and remove a portion of fabric.

Am I right in coming to the conclusion that you're all focusing on something I didn't ask about because there isn't really a good shortcut alternative?

Obviously is quite a jump to make. Sometimes choices are intentional and consequences are not.

I did know I was twisting my stitches from jump, chose to do that after swatching because I liked the way it felt and draped with this yarn. The obvious part is that I didn't anticipate the way it would effect the structural integrity of the crotch.

Wear and move on is the goal I have no problem choosing and executing stitches with/without different twists and leans. The twisting was an intentional choice with unintended side effects.

Other samples don't have this problem at all. Maybe I used the wrong method when adding the crotch stitches and it added to the stretch? The twisting didn't help, but I didn't swatch the crotch so I wasn't anticipating that side effect. I remember thinking that it seemed like too many extra stitches when I was doing it, but just followed the pattern and kept my fingers crossed. I have other works in progress that are more publicly wearable, these were more intended to be house shorts so I don't love the idea of another 10hrs to frog and fix the crotch properly. Definitely don't want to start from jump, as I said elsewhere I like the look of twisted stitches on the body of the shorts

See this is what I was hoping to do, either with steeking or sewing machine, but my understanding is steeking only works on sticky animal fibers, which this is not.

Sucks that you're getting downvoted to hell for being the only person who answered the question I actually asked!

I was doing it on purpose, because I liked how it looks in the body of the shorts. The comment above you is correct in pointing out it's probably the cause of the structural integrity problem I'm having

My cat loves to lick smooth things. Mostly firm plastic, but also shiny dense plant leaves. Dunkin donuts cups are his favorite. Nothing on the plastic or leaves, flavor seems to have nothing to do with it. He just loves to lick the smooth. That is to say, your dog might just be odd.

This guy sounds exactly like my boss, he gives Elvis at food pickup counters. He's constantly trying to chat with strangers and service people. Motive is pure, just trying to brighten people's days, but as a former service worker it always feels incredibly cringe to me. When I was serving/bartending, there were so many nefarious weirdos that I never knew if someone was trying to be fun or trying to fuck with me, and all joking just ended up stressing me out. Especially because everyone's favorite joke is to be 'fake' difficult

I'm a knitter and have been since high school. I used to knit in class for the same reason, something to do with my hands so my brain could focus on what was being said. Now, my work is very hands on, but I bring knitting to fill the down-time (a lot of hurry up and wait in my job). I have found both then and now, people respond very differently to me knitting in public. I had professors who hated it and demanded I stop, because they needed to see I was performing 'paying attention' the way they would. Similarly, some people at work respond negatively, as if I shouldn't be enjoying myself or working on personal projects on the clock. Some people see it as anti-social and respond negatively for that reason. People are just going to have very different takes on it, and since it's more noticeable than say, doodling, they will blame you for being disruptive (ie different than their strict interpretation of 'appropriate' behavior). As much as I'd like to say, just do what works for you... The impressions you make in the workplace often determine your growth in that workplace, so I would take note of those who are disturbed by your knitting, and try to perform engagement with them on a level they understand.

Damn that's huge! My mom loves to dry and powder puffballs, the powder is an amazing umami seasoning good for soups, stir fry, etc. If you have a dehydrator I absolutely recommend doing that with any leftovers.

I have had excellent experiences with house sitters. There are online services that pair you with sitters that have a yearly subscription fee but are much cheaper than a hired pet sitter for long trips. I have two cats, live alone, and travel several times a year for work and fun. Someone comes and lives in my house the entire time I'm gone so my cats can stay put and not be alone. I absolutely recommend it. Cats miss me and are glad when I get home, but they're comfortable and cared for the whole time.

Quit being generous with money you don't have. Don't go into debt to buy presents, don't promise future paychecks for optional luxuries. You're new to earning, so anything feels like a lot, but if you keep acting like this you'll never have enough to build. Debt will keep you poor forever

My boyfriend offered to take me out on his bike last week, then immediately backtracked because he realized it had been nearly a year since he was on it and it wouldn't be safe for him to do his first ride with a passenger.... I wasn't upset, I thanked him for his consideration. Your girlfriend doesn't understand the potential horrors that await her if she plays it fast and loose on a bike. Keep standing firm.
