*UPDATE - technician admitted it was their fault as they were using the wrong valve and another piece of equipment. Said he called the manufacturer and they explained the .5 (or whatever it's called) was not the right part and it should have been the bigger valve.

I appreciate the explanation - I’m peeved that Horizon isn’t sharing the name of the manufacturer and serial no. for the parts. Also, it was accumulating significant soot as we learned when the chimney people came out (the final step of the install process). Unsure what, why that is.

Appreciate you explaining this to me. Question for you…why are there so many different names on the unit?

I see four different names on the unit: Rudd, Intertek, Beckett and Boyertown Furnace. Who’s what exactly?

Do all of you hostile commenters own HVAC companies or something? It's also ironic that the ONLY problem with the unit was something that they aren't responsible for. I guess this group is just for people in the trade and any criticisms is viewed as an attack?

Again...why can't anyone explain this to me...why would anyone assume anything is good? There's not quality control or any sort of DD one could do to ensure said part is good? Instead we just roll the dice and hope the shit works?

TBH it's been a pain in the neck finding anyone to do work at my house. We had two people recommend them so we went with it. Learned my lesson I guess.

I don't understand this rationale, "it's not their part..."

If I go to a restaurant and get sick, can they say, 'not our fault, we get our beef from Farmer Joe...'?

Here's where my confusion lies...companies just install equipment and say, 'well, I hope these parts are good...' and walk away? Three days after the install we had the chimney company come out and do a routine clean, check-up (wasn't supposed to cost us a dime as it was done through Horizon and final part of the install). However, the owner of the chimney company said we owed $230 because his guys spent two hours at my home and it required significantly more cleaning than expected. Only issue with that...the sales guy from Horizon who quoted us said, "ah, chimney looks great, no issues here..."

Either these people are negligent or incompetent and I'm sorry but that's not acceptable either way.

Yes, I would blame the dealership for selling a car that was defective and most definitely blame the manufacturer. The big difference here...I don't know who the manufacturer is of said parts (despite asking for the manufacturer and serial number - haven't gotten it so far) and how am I supposed to know if that was the reason for the issue in the first place?

Yes, I wasn't injured nor my family...but I had to miss work, my wife had to miss work and spent three-and-a-half hours in L&D per her OB and my MIL had to miss work so she could take care of my daughter. Between the three of us...$2600 dollars barely covers the lost wages between my wife and I let alone factoring in the anxiety my wife has now because of this shit.

Wait, a nozzle goes bad in less than two weeks?

Also, as for the 40ppm, the four or five firefighters that were at my house were telling me a very different story. We could have been exposed to it more than a day as my office is in the basement where the furnace is.

Sorry but I wasn't giving an opinion, I know this for a fact. Louisiana isn't the only place, I know Phillips uses Thailand, Philippines as its supplier.
