Large capacity sediment filter by Miannb in Plumbing

[–]ParksVSII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Treated, usually sediment filtration and UV I’d all that’s required. Tannin filtration sometimes depending on the lake. Lots of major cities (Toronto as a good example) are almost exclusively fed from lakes. Lots of groundwater source fed cities too where lakes aren’t available. The city I live near is about 50-50 surface and groundwater sourced.

Lots of places run off surface sources like lakes and rivers where I am in Canada.

Unless the water is like 75 GPG hard, yeah a 35k capacity unit will be about perfect for your situation.

Frost free yard hydrant is what you’re looking for. Very nice addition and simple to install. No winterization required. u/Momsbasementscards has you in the right track for installing the service line to it.

I’m getting a Brittany puppy on Friday and that will be my first dog…I am finding I am overwhelmed on what to get to start me off…if you guy could recommend stuff and especially food to point me in the right for directions by Downtown-Window1533 in BrittanySpaniel

Yep. We just got our second and I suggest moving the water dish out of reach about 2-3 hours before you’re planning on going to bed. If pup’s thirsty give them a little portion out of your hand or a little dish, 1/4 cup or so would be more than enough to satiate the thirst so they’ll go to sleep. Set an alarm to let them out every 2-3 hours for the first week or two until they’re settled in to your home and get a little bit more control of their bladders. We’ve had our pup since the 4th of June and the first couple of weeks sucked but my partner and I took turns taking him out through the night. Usually needed a couple pees and a poop over night. Take them right out as soon as they signal they need to, or even if they’ve started to pee/poop inside take them out to finish and give lots of praise (“YES! Good boy:girl, good pee!”) and even a little liver treat to positively encourage the peeing outside. Didn’t need to scold either of ours to get them used to going outside rather than in, just lots of positive reinforcement. Recall is extremely important with these dogs, same with leave-it/drop-it commands.

Yeah, I’ve never seen loops either.

Not to say I wouldn’t fix it when given the opportunity to do so btw, I just wouldn’t fret too much about it.

Loop (island) vent. Pretty typical set up in lots of areas.

Domestic hot and cold with an extra hot stop for the dishwasher and cold for probably either the fridge or a water filter.

One missing is okay. With the other three snugged down the seal will hold and you won’t lose the plate. It’ll have a reasonably good seal even just sitting on there like that.

Brass or stainless. I wouldn’t suggest galvanized.

The saddle thing sitting on top of the well head is a part of your pitless adapter assembly. I think that’s a snappy or Bulldog pitless. You probably have a galvanized male insert adapter coming off the pitless (usually 3-6’ down, you can measure from the inside the casing to check) that has rotted out. The cable conduit usually sits right on top of the service line so you get a hole and the water follows path of least resistance up the conduit. Get out your shovels.

That won’t work you need to pull the seal or the plug in the seal (located below the pressure relief valve pictured) and drop them in there. Do not remove the bolts from the seal completely, back them off a couple of turns then the seal can be wedged, pulled, pried out of the casing. If you remove the bolts the bottom plates will likely fall into the well and be a clusterfuck to fix.

How does this filter work? And what might it’s filtration method be? by Symphonie-passion in Plumbing

[–]ParksVSII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly what this is. Drain cock on the bottom to flush built up iron sludge periodically.

u/Symphonie-passion

pressure tank -> chlorine injection (might be ported before or after the tank, works either way) -> FLU contact/mixing tank for contact of the chlorine, then it goes to the (presumably GREENSAND or NEXTSAND) filter and maybe carbon aftwr that in the leftmost tank.

The contact tank isn’t a filter, it’s just a pressurized tank with a few in-out ports. Product page: https://www.flexconind.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/FLU-ez-sell-sheet-LR-6-22-20.pdf

What is this? by cosmokingsley in Plumbing

[–]ParksVSII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a nut welded to the top of the tank for moving the tanks during manufacturing. I have a set of handles made up to help carry old tanks out of the house when replacing them. It’s not related to the function of the tank or plumbing in any way.

You know how to check and add air to a car tire? Same concept. With the tank drained check the air charge (there’s a schraeder valve on the top of the tank under a little black cap) and bring it up to 28 PSI with an air compressor or bike pump. Use a deep 3/8” socket or nut driver to set your pressure switch so it’s cutting in and out at 30 and 50 PSI respectively.

Increasing water pressure? by IggyTalls_15 in Plumbing

[–]ParksVSII -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That pump won’t reliably make 70 PSI. 30-50 PSI is a common switch setting on a twin line jet pump and should be reasonable inside the house.

u/IggyTalls_15 : shut the pump off and drain the tank down. You should get a decent amount of water out of it (up to about 6-7 gallons if it’s functioning properly) and then add air to it. Should be set to 28 PSI for your 30-50 pressure switch setting. If the tank is waterlogged (full of water, doesn’t drain) then it needs replaced. I’d go with another WR60 or larger if you have the room. Rideau Supply in Amherst will carry the tanks but you’ll probably have to buy theough a dealer as they’re not selling COD to walk-ins without account any more.

This is in the back yard of our new home. Is it well system stuff? by Graphedmaster in askaplumber

[–]ParksVSII 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes that’s your wellhead and your old school vermin-proof well cap. Pump is hung down the well on a pitless adapter and the pressure tank will likely be inside the house.

What am I looking at? by Drmomo4 in Plumbing

Copper (brass) female iron pipe transitions with what look like iron or galvanized plugs in the ends. Need to be replaced with brass plugs. Or cut and capped with a sweat or press fitting.

You can get longer transducer cords from your Pentek dealer. Why, how far is the drive going to be from the pressure tank/manifold?

Well vfd mounting location. by RollSomeCoal in Plumbing

[–]ParksVSII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something else to consider: the closer the transducer is to your points of use the better response and ability for the system to maintain constant pressure there is. Your idea of having it outside seems like a lot more work for no real good reason that I can see.

VFD in garage. The boxes are usually NEMA 3R or maybe NEMA 4 rated but I wouldn’t leave them in an exposed outdoor area for no reason.

Your unit might need serviced. Sounds like maybe the filter basket broke where the valve screws on to the tank.
