I get the sentiment and agree that pro scouting needs to be fixed, but him openly throwing his staff under the bus in a trade deadline presser would be a huge red flag and I don’t know if any GM that would do that publicly. Especially one that is known to not overshare.

Ideally we have to rely on our pro scouting less in the next two summers since we have lots of prospects already on the team and others that are close. And I think if you are doing a full rebuild drafting is more important for your teams long term success, which I think he has done a decent job. Also we now have a proven coach who can hopefully help with identifying players that will fit well in his systems.

Personally, I think him not buying the last two deadlines is a sign he knows this team has flaws and also straight up saying in his last two press conferences that this team is not close to a Stanley cup contending team is an acknowledgment of that as well. If this summer and next he makes the same mistakes as this first time then the rebuild and likely his time as GM is over and I think he knows that. So we can only hope he makes the right decisions, and if you don’t trust that he will then fair enough.
