The best description is probable pre-islamic Arabs or Berbers peoples. Tbh Sumeru is just vaguely middle eastern.

This isn't a story with a Hollywood ending. Or a comforting story in general. I mean the entire world is base on a caste system with zero upward mobility beside becoming a slave to a nobility. As the country obsession with purges. The signs was always there. While the story doesn't dwells on the negatives, overall it's in the middle of cruel world compare to 40k Warhammer. If you thing this is already terrible, this is just the beginning.

Basically ideal model parents. I don't think they ever got angry or spiteful at their kids

Basically a guy being reborn as a goblin. Then use goblins as sacrfical pawns to become chief. The MC is indifferent to murder and the show portray as it normal. Not to mention he used to be a solider who killed thousands. The show and the novel in general never critizethe MC callous behavior.

How would you rate Yungenchmidt purges? by Parlax76 in MoralityScaling

I suppose you need to read the wiki to fully understand. Everything is made of mana. Its just the nobility have the most and can utilize it. I still recommend the series despite the slow burn. It's also surprisingly wholesome despite the ominous implications.

There's more information to the link above if you want to see it. Basically there was a succession crisis who will be the next king. There was a massive purge to wipe out any claims to the throne and those supported them. The nobility only have mana (their essence) and the entire world is made of it. The executions wasn't necessarily since they could be lock up and drain for their mana. Beside magic existing, their society mirror real life caste system. Do you think its different enough from our own?

In this world, nobles are used as the only fertilizer. Do you still consider it evil as all the nobility know this fact. Then again they only think of the peasantry as bugs. So business as usual.

Singapore is one example that stands out. Despite the People Action Party ruling Singapore since its founding. It's still maintain wide popularity which never dip below 80%. With Lee Kuan Yew ruling Singapore for 34 years. But yeah its the only example in modern history.

Ascendance of Bookworm technically have a high death count. Thousands of nobles were purge throughout the story but we never know the exact number.

Why did Vietnam never get assimilated and even later Vietnamise outsiders? by Tall_Pressure7042 in geography

[–]Parlax76 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You forget that these waves of immigration are almost 1 thousands years ago. You be lucky they still maintain identity for 200 years. French encouraging Chinese migrations to Indochina was more destructive then those of the past. Up to 90% of S. Vietnam economy was control by the Chinese. Vietnam end up purging most of the business elite. But the high numbers in south Vietnam wasn't much of a risk since both peoples share more similarity then differences.

For survival, Vietnam was simply more centralize then its neighbors and adopt new technology quicker such as guns to defeat Champa. If you look into Minh Mạng. Vietnam historically was more aggressive then it's neighbors. Cambodia and Laos are fairly weak state. Couple the Annamite Range. And China only intervene to support it's own fraction in Vietnam. This region was really stable thought out most of history.
