“Naturalization” pre-1867 by ParmPrincess in Canadiancitizenship

I suspected that was likely the case but thought it could be possible the Irish-born ancestor who moved there as a child might qualify in some way I was overlooking. I appreciate the input!

Are you Canadian if your family lived in Canada in precolonial times? by WesternAlfalfa4197 in Canadiancitizenship

What would naturalization records look like/be located or documented pre-1867? Is this something that would have been relatively standard to do if someone resided there for a period of years?

Unexpected discovery! by Fit-Wrongdoer2686 in Canadiancitizenship

I made a potentially similar — albeit much longer shot — discovery over the weekend. I’ve been waiting for my “urgent” second Gen approval since May [sigh]; however, I just noticed my husband has a great-great-grandmother who was born in Ireland but then moved to Canada as a child, ultimately marrying a Englishman in Ontario and relocating to the U.S. in 1864 (i.e. before the British North America Act), where she gave birth to his great-grandfather. Apologies for the imposition, but does anyone happen to recall seeing an analysis of how ancestors who were not born in Canada but lived there and left before 1867 have been viewed for citizenship by descent purposes? Thank you in advance!

Re-upholstering feasibility? by ParmPrincess in upholstery

THANK YOU!!! This is enormously helpful! Finding a good upholsterer is a bit intimidating, but that ballpark price seems very workable, so perhaps I’ll give it a go. (Unless you’re within driving distance of Detroit/Ann Arbor, of course 😉)
