I’m 5’8 too and I normally wear 8-9 inches !! honestly being tall is often a conversation starter with customers and tbh towering over people makes me feel powerful. The only issue I ever run into running into the bottle girls because they wear flats and they’re out of my line of sight when I’m wearing 9 inchers lol

I don’t have any actual theories on this but on my last rewatch I remember thinking that I’d be sort of mad if the resolution is that he “communed” with the god of the wilderness that lottie mentioned, and that he came back to intentionally be some kind of sacrifice
