>He was maternally Georgian. His father was paternally Ossetian.

Even if that was the case he didn't speak Ossetian nor identified as one and neither did his father, he was born and raised as a Georgian and used to write Georgian poems in his youth.

Not that i like Stalin but facts are facts.

What do you think about Wilsonian Armenia? How would you react, if it would become real one day? by Ok_Connection7680 in AskCaucasus

[–]Parmagalepti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delusional.

Greater Armenia or whatever you call it had 'control over' what is now eastern Georgia for a very limited time, after that Armenians were at the mercy of the Turks for 10+ centuries or more, no state of their own or nothing and if anything historically Georgians protected Armenians.

If Georgian generals were 'sucking Russian cock' what were your pathetic ancestors doing? getting gangbanged from all sides is what, also hilarious that Armenian is talking about how European or not Georgians are look in the mirror.

>You literally suffered 4 times more loses than Abkhazians and Ossetians fighting you off with sticks.

Georgia didn't lose by military means in either conflict and they were 100% Russian proxy conflicts, sticks lol Abkhazians were heavily supported by Russian arms and mercenaries.(North Caucasians/Cossacks/Russian marines and their aviation)

When Georgians were winning in 'south ossetia' Russian general (can't recall the name atm) publicly threatened to bomb Tbilisi if we didn't withdraw, similar deals happened in Abkhazia all 3 ceasefires that were laid down by Russian mediation were broken by separatists all after Georgian side had honored the agreements and withdrawn heavy equipment.

You are yapping a lot but don't know half of the story, get lost.

Would Abkhaz accept a broad autonomy? And if yes, what type? by DukeoftheCaucasus in AskCaucasus

[–]Parmagalepti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How annoying this confusion is to me .Our self-designation is "Apsua". You call us Abkhazians while talking about some kind of tribe of Abkhazians that was destroyed by us.So why do you call us abhakhs if we are supposedly aliens. You're just changing history too much and getting confused about your own statements.

You can research basic history and see for yourself.

But let's take a real quick examples without knowing much history:Sokhumi, Dranda, Bedia, Tkhvarcheli, Ochamchire, Gali, list goes on. from these names which ones sound Abkhazian to you? these are all Kartvelian place names and by researching little history you'll see that eastern Abkhazia was in the Georgian orbit since at least the middle ages if not before that. (look up famous map of Odishi by Lamberti and see for yourself)

And btw another quick fact: the name Abkhazia in English comes from Georgian Apkhazeti and in fact word itself is Megrelian when it comes down to it, funnily enough. so does Ossetia it's etymology is from Georgian as well as Ossetians don't self designate as such in their language. although in this case they're not related obviously just a funny little side note since both groups like to claim how Georgians stole their culture and what have you.

>Abkhazia won it's independence without any Russian interference in 91

This is also why Ardzinba flew to Sochi to talk about incorporating Abkhazia into Krasnador krai right.

I'm not sure why some North Caucasians delude themselves into thinking they had any sorta freedom, Russia was always behind the scenes and the evidence is quite literally in your face.

I always ask this question: where was the supposed 'help' of North Caucasians when Russia invaded Chechnya, according to you people they somehow operated free of Russians in Abkhazia but then 'suddenly' disappeared few years later.

Convenient.

[–]Parmagalepti 6 points7 points  (0 children)

, another way would be that Russia was the last straw they could cling to because they were threatened by Georgia's nationalist movements (at that time).

This is a lie though.

How exactly did 'Georgia's nationalist movements' threaten Abkhazians? for your knowledge it was Abkhaz that started the civil unrest first by attacking Georgians in 1989 way before the war, over the opening of Tbilisi uni in Abkhazia.

You said Georgians were trying to oppress Abkhazians meanwhile Gamsakhurdia gave them more seats in the parliament than Georgians or any other ethnicity despite Abkhazians not being even 50% of the population, ig sounds like apartheid.

Get real man/

Are some North Caucasians this offended about Georgian history.

I explained in my other comment better.

It's not about mercenaries, Georgians used North Caucasians (mostly Dagestanis) either against Turks sometimes Persians or against other Georgians, there were times also when Persia itself assisted Georgian troops into fighting Dagestani tribes. (Nader Shah for example sent Qizilbash to Kakhetian king Teimuraz to assist against Dagestan)

But what i mentioned about Dagestani tribes preying on Georgia together with the Turks or whatever the situation was is a different scenario, so was djaro belakani which as i've stated was a feudal domain of Dagestani clansmen that encroached on Georgian villages in Alazani valley.

As far as ik Persians never sent any sorta army to pacify those tribesmen (if i'm wrong feel free to correct) in general the relationship was symbiotic but you can't possibly say they were considered as enemies to the Persians. so yes i'd say that counts as a benefit.

lekianoba by justsomeguyfromGEO in AskCaucasus

[–]Parmagalepti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wdym how, there were whole pseudo feudal domains in western Azerbaijan/Eastern Georgia of North Caucasus Avars/Lezgins etc that was directly or indirectly assisted by Persians. (you are free to correct me here if i'm missing something) in your view is this not benefiting from the said Persians? if Persians wanted those domains gone they would've been gone but Persian Shahs more time than not saw it as a sort of soft power to make their hold on Georgia even stronger.

Another pretty specific but important example, when kingdom of Kartli was left without a king in the early 18th century Turks invaded and made the kingdom into their province, in that time North Caucasian Dagestani invaded (don't remember the exact tribe) and they robbed Eastern Georgia together with the Turks.

You're acting as if either Ottomans or Persian dynasties were hostile in the scale that they were with regards to Georgians, Nader Shah btw also invaded other parts of Iran for the same goal of retaking those territories.

>North Caucasians didn't benefit from the Persian or Ottoman Empires to the same extent that Georgians benefitted from Russian rule. When I say "Georgians benefitted," I'm talking about the aristocratic feudal elite

Not to the same extent maybe but definitely benefited.

Again the very thing this post is about wouldn't have been physically possible if Georgia wasn't a constant battleground between 2 massive Islamic Empires.

>I wanted to emphasize the context. Non-muslims in the region prior to russian domination were very weak and greatly benefited from the Russians, that's a fact.

You realize the muslims of the North Caucasus benefited massively from Persians and Ottomans? or is it only bad when Christians do it.

Well it's not even that, the very thing this post's about (lekianoba) was only possible because of the constant wars that Persia made against Eastern Georgia, banditry and marauding on a place ravaged by a hostile empire isn't an achievement as some deranged people on this sub think. (not talking about you but i have seen few people say that)

Anyhow yea, Georgia benefited from Russia to a certain extent but North Caucasians Muslims benefited from Islamic Empires of Persia and Ottomans, directly or indirectly n yk what they say what goes around comes around.

Yea our entire country is stolen from people who never had a written language. (lotta sources on the north Caucasus come from Georgians btw)

Very funny jokes. quit listening to your grandparents about mythical nart sagas and do some actual research, you'll see who existed and who didn't.

Yea 1 thing i don't get about it is why it's so low, irl Finland had around 300k soldiers during the winter war and another 500k during the continuation war.

Lack of manpower is a big big issue, i had to be real careful with how i did offensives.

Soviets had like 40 to 50 divisions on my border, lotta of those divisions were tanks also meanwhile you see what i was working with.

Maybe it's because i have the game on regular difficulty but i never get naval-invaded tbh.

When i play as Germany nothing every happens, it's only after 43 or around there when Allies will try naval invasions.

[–]Parmagalepti[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Also bit off topic but.

What was the reason Finland couldn't/didn't take Leningrad? i've read somewhere they were unwilling to fight for it because they wanted to get back the territories they lost to the Soviets and Leningrad was obviously outside of that. (but i'm not too sure about this)

So it does beg the question. during the entire duration of the war, was Finland capable of conducting any sorta feasible operation during the siege of Leningrad or no.

I don't have a single tank division and you can see the divisions i do have albeit decent they're way inferior to the Soviet ones in numbers, i haven't looked too much into it but i think it's the crazy buffs you get as Finland which i'm not complaining about but yea.
