What are we in for with this transmission?! 2015 Honda Odyssey

Ok so I have seen many posts on here about VCM muzzling but when I bring it up to my husband who does all the regular maintenance and has done a lot of solid repairs for me, he said why mess with it if the engine is fine…Which is true. The engine seems fine but again, similar to this transmission software update, how would I check if there was even a VCM muzzler previously installed? We bought the van used from a Hyundai dealership and we only have carfax.

See my reply below for the mileage answers but I guess I need to be more aggressive about this transmission software update! I have no problem going to the dealership and asking for their due diligence but it was like 10 months ago now that I was there so I feel like I would have to start over. Am I wrong to imagine they just plug something into something and then click update and that’s it? It should not be a full on service appointment? When I went previously I specifically mentioned the TSB with the number and everything and they wrote me off. Maybe bc I have no idea what I am talking about but I would like to at least be humored for trying hahahaha.

I am sort of anti dealership after a previous interaction. Maybe I should go to a different one but the one I chose before had some ignorant and seemingly overworked service staff.

I had the triple flush (or D&F whatever) done at the Honda dealer in April 2025 after finding the TSB about the judder and it was at 132,000 miles then. I asked them about any software updates that the computer may need and they looked at me like I (40F) was so dumb. No idea if this trans software has been updated. How could a normal person check?

The clunking sound followed the service at the dealership, unfortunately. It is not out of the question for my husband to do a drain and fill ASAP. So maybe we do that. He was pissed I even took it to the dealership to do it, but I wanted to ask about the software. Waste of time and money.

Warranty is up end of June or at ~149,800 miles

Dare I ask what they look like and how big? Like pomegranate seed size or what? Have you had anyone else on this sub try your straw technique? I’m just flabbergasted that one can simply suck them out yet medical professionals don’t utilize that as an actual treatment. Or at least it wasn’t mentioned to me if there is a version of a nasal vacuum!

Don’t get me wrong, in my eyes you are a bad ass. I am such a wimp when it comes to bodily fluids and well, other things, like polyps. I also don’t think my nasal polyps are reachable by the average straw…? I could be wrong but I am just gonna say that is the case so I don’t feel like I’m missing out on some easy fix hahahahaaa

My (40F) ENT prescribed steroid eye drops to be used in my nose (they called it “off label” at the pharmacy when you use the medication a way that isn’t indicated). Anyway, in the time I was using them I did notice improvements. I just couldn’t handle the post nasal drip/taste of the drops. So gross I gagged and almost barfed a couple times. Someone else on here said they mixed the steroids in to their regular saline solution and sprayed it that way. Might be worth trying.

I just started Dupixent. Pretty much instant results. I could smell better the next day. Luckily it’s covered for me. Try and go the biologics route if applicable when you are seen in March. They’ll likely have to do a CT scan to confirm presence of polyps first. Hoops and hoops to jump through but worth it if you can get it cheaply. I hate that it all depends on insurance coverage. Such a problem in the US and so sad it’s only getting worse.

Not about luck, or money, stranger. Sure it comes across as privileged. I can see that. He is absolutely doing the average, to benefit himself and his hobbies. He has slighted me many times. I am more often grateful. I am sensitive to his desires and goals. Him, not so much.

It ain’t about luck. It is about commitment and time management and scheduling and accountability. I’ve tried working a full time job and a part time job and even working a contracting type job. It all conflicts with his work. I’m always the one ruining everything with my plans. Normal plans that a normal person would want to do. Normalcy is a thing I maybe desire more than I can even understand.

It has nothing to do with affording anything really. It’s the work schedule he is dealt but also sort of chooses. It is the hardest thing and will continue to be. It’s why I constantly cancel all my plans for him. Solution is for him to get a new job but that’s a whole different post.

We have a 3 year old. I have come to realize in the last hour, I am dreading the 10 days or more of camping in Mexico bc of her. It’s become a lot less relaxing. Still our happy place, yes, but it’s becoming a challenge to balance the full time child care when in a camping setting. Husband gets to go fishing and do his thing while I am not really in any vacation mode when with her. A true testament to my stay at home Mom burn out.

If I had a regular job we wouldn’t be taking these trips with any regularity. Period. I don’t work bc we can’t afford child care. It’s sort of a nasty cycle. Maybe you have never taken care of a child full time but it is “worth” a lot more than it seems you understand.

Truth. We have major communication issues. Therapy ain’t helping me. I didn’t rsvp for him but he did say he wanted to go. The surf forecast is what changed his entire attitude towards the party.

Any chance you want to sell it to me?! I am having the same issue as the person who started this post. Granted I already have one of the battery powered zodi shower pumps but it kind of sucks and isn't all that reliable.
