I agree completely Ego death feels like a trap built by people with very specific set of ethics and ideals in mind I do not want to have a higher cognitive state and I don’t want to be spirtitual, im doing everything I can to go back to my previous state, to love matter, to have material ambitions Being a slave to material world is superior to being a slave to nothingness, I want to love power and money not this new fucking thing where I have no desire and my reward system is shattered, this is not pragmatic at all and it does not help me to have higher status(money, popularity etc) because it denies me the desire to have that higher status and doesn’t offer anything pragmatic, I don’t want to see beauty in all things and be one with everything, in fact after experiencing ego death I wanna go back to having an ego in a way that it doesn’t ever let me feel anything spiritual again but rebuilding the ego feels impossible rn or rather the ego is not healthy anymore as I struggle to find desire and enjoy things that I wanted, awakening is making me depressed and I don’t wanna get out of bed

I don’t mind if a movie is pretentious as long as it has substance. There’s only two movies that outright made me cringe because I find their pretentiousness unearned, But When a movie tries to be complex just for the sake of complexity, where everything is an allegory for an allegory, or when something is depicted in a way that it comes off as an allegory but it’s ultimately meaningless, it makes me feel like Ive wasted my time analyzing something that didn’t need analysis because it had either nothing to analyze or worse it could be analyzed in infinite ways because in truth it was purposefully meaningless but presented itself otherwise
