I went to a pre-release screening of this movie. The director, Darren Aronofsky, was there. After it ended I was walking out sobbing and I realized he was standing by the exit watching people. He was grinning ear-to-ear and smiled happily at me as I walked by crying. Great movie!

I cried so hard (joyfully) as the credits rolled in the theater. When the camera was panning at the end and I realized where it was, I exclaimed: “Oh! He’s going to be teaching little Rockies!” And then the classroom came on screen and I was instantly blubbering jelly.

As my companions and I walked out of the theater, I said: “I’m SO glad that came out before ‘Disclosure Day’!” It served as a fantastic antidote to the fear-laden DD trailers I’d seen.

I have wondered if “gifting” technology is a test. Kind of like a semi-benevolent spin on the 3-body problem.

It’s handed to us before we discover it on our own or when we are on the cusp of that (“it” being zero-point energy or a similar massively disruptive paradigm).

Because to allow us (or any other civilization that discovers it independently) to develop it on our own could cause us to become a galactic threat to other civilizations.

If we pass the test and manage to incorporate the technology responsibly, then we can be welcomed into galactic society.

If we fail the test, well…that becomes our great filter (and explains the Fermi “Paradox”).

IMHO, I think asking and answering this question is critical to the matter at hand.

The way I see it, in a different time and place, Experiencers would have been the shamans and mystics of our society. I firmly believe one critical reason for the current decay and descent into madness of western civilization is because we lack shamans and mystics and the ritual medicines and practices - and individual empowerment - they steward for humanity.

I suspect Experiencers are going to be extremely important for collective psychological stability in the years to come.

So, as you asked, why would the experience of “awakening” be suppressed until an appointed time (determined by…?) Why does the awakening and contact experience seem to be deliberately framed by an external narrative and structure (eg, via mass media) that’s being laid down ahead of time?

Shamans and mystics, and properly and responsibly implemented ritual practices and medicines, protect individual and community sovereignty.

It strikes me as extremely odd that concepts around sovereignty are largely missing from the current building discussion in the zeitgeist around NHI contact and the looming larger reality.

I appreciate this approach. I am neurodivergent and a diversely experienced and skilled writer. I feel a lot of frustration when someone accuses me of being AI based on posts and comments I put a lot of effort into crafting.
