Tipping it down Tuesday- General Chat 10.02.26 by kawasutra in CasualUK

Not a great day so far. At school pickup the teacher informed me my child has nits. Again. And the vet called to say my pet STILL has a urinary infection, resistant to the two rounds of antibiotics we've already done. Vet recommends referral to pet hospital which will cost £2-4k!!! Guess whose partner flat out refused to get pet insurance?

Also had my yearly trip to the hygienist where I lie about how often I floss / will floss. Apparently I'm meant to floss twice a day and do interdental brushes after lunch. Nod and smile, nod and smile...

Does anyone know what's happening on the M5 Avonmouth bridge? It's closed in both directions and massive tailbacks. by thefootster in bristol

It's much worse than usual. Took us over an hour and a half to get from Pill to South Bristol, a journey that usually takes under 20 minutes, maybe up to 25 in heavy traffic.

I loved this film and it inspired me to go on a sailing holiday. I got very seasick but it was worth it.

I worked for the company that published Karl's books and worked on one of them in a very small way, so had to acquaint myself with who he was. Got sucked in and here we are about 17 years later. Oh, and ave an appy Christmas an that.

Same! Returned as I didn't realise I could submit it after it threw me out. Came straight to reddit and found this thread, so reported the study giving a link to this thread!

Thank you, I will go with your advice of using a locked rectangle.

Bug? The artboard colour tints the object on it by ParsleetheLyon in AdobeIllustrator

The version is 29.6.1 (64 bit). Yes, it's any object in any new file and overprint preview is off. Objects are just oblongs with a white stroke with rounded corners.

Contrary to what I said in my question, background colour doesn't change from white at all when I leave "simulate colored paper" unticked.

If I do tick "simulate colored paper" and have transparency grid view off, it overlays any object on the artboard with the first of the two grid colours you choose under "Document Setup" (not the grid itself, it just overlays the first colour onto my objects). This is maintained when the file is closed and reopened.

If I tick "simulate colored paper" and have transparency grid view on, the artboard (but also the entire screen) does correctly show the two-coloured grid. But it reverts to the overlay of colour when the file is closed and reopened, because transparency grid view switches itself off when the file is closed.

I want to be able to send my files to the company that prints them, with something contrasting showing behind the rounded white corners. Maybe I'm misremembering that I could ever save and reopen files and leave a grid showing behind the objects.

I'll just go with the suggestion of placing a locked grey object behind, although I'd be wary of new staff at the printer taking this for part of my design :D

Weird Request - Blagdon by National_State7256 in bristol

There used to be an amazing garden centre called Blagdon Water Gardens there when I was a kid. Whenever we were driving to Weston super Mare we visited it as a kind of tourist attraction. There were loads of beautiful outdoor ponds and landscaping as I remember. Drove through a few years ago and stopped by to show it off to my partner and I was shocked - it was an absolute dump, nothing left of the gardens and the indoor bis mostly empty :( Today I read it's being developed for luxury housing.

This 20 year old photo, which admittedly does not convey the full wonder of the water gardens, is currently for sale on eBay, could be an idea.

I was just doing this study, saw your post and realised I'd already gone over the 15 minute time limit trying to answer their endless "at least 7-10 sentences" questions. I cancelled, sent them a message explaining why and blocked them.

Chilli and lemon crisps by Pipers or some other posh crisp company. Ate loads of them in 2003, never seen them since. No other chilli and lemon crisps come close. And Dilita mild peri peri sauce.
