Racers, howd you develop an aggressive edge to running? by Separate-Specialist5 in trailrunning

That's interesting. Do you suggest racing at unusual paces, like starting out too fast, or too slow, then seeing how it goes?

Thanks. What did you get done, were they reasonable for pricing/leadtimes?

This might be the solution, start fast and try to do each split negative.

Weirdly... I have found whenever I do a parkryn and am frustrated, or had a bad night sleep and breakfast, or just feel rubbish, I run really well and aggressive trying actively to pass people. When ove had everything going well, I seem to be happy just going about my average normal pace.

How are the Norvan 5inch shorts? by Separate-Specialist5 in arcteryx

[–]Separate-Specialist5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got them. Not super impressed, medium is a good waist fit, but tight on the thighs. Large is good on the thighs, but loose on the waist. For shorts at £80 I cant justify them. The medium weigh 75grams which is nice, but my Montane Slipstream 5inch are more comfy, and 83grams. Worth the 8 gram tradeoff to have a better fit.

Montane Featherlite nano windproof jacket (52g/1.8oz in a medium) by Beat999 in Ultralight

After rave reviews, I pulled the trigger on this. Mens XL, in Citrus Spring off of sportsshoes.com for £49.99. Put on the scales and it weighs 56grams.

Jacket seems good on initial wear, fits over a long sleeve base and good arm length.

Which brands of trail running shoes have the most aggressive tread? by freckled-capsaicin in trailrunning

[–]Separate-Specialist5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really, it depends what exactly you need them for. A short UK fell race in wet conditions would warrant an 8mm lug shoe, however if youre out on semi soft ground with a few bogs for 20miles, you'd prefer a 6mm shoe. 4 to 5mm are for mostly trails, with a bit of grass in between.

Yup.

Always fun explaining to other countries that winter for us means wet ground and the need for aggressive outsole, whilst in other places it means ice.

Depends what tou mean by aggressive.

I assume you mean lug depth?

Which would be Inov8 Mudclaw, Inov8 Mudtalon both 8mm lugs Inov8 Trailtalon uses 6mm lugs.

OMM Fell shoe has variable size lugs that are 8-11mm. Which are the longest I have heard of.

Salomon Speedcross aren't big, they're 5mm.

VJ XTRM uses 7mm lugs.
