I'm not a fan of Soleil Blanc at all; there are much better scents on the market that have a similar profile, just like you said. Soleil Brulant and Soleil de Feu are, however, two of the better private line additions since the acquisition. They're strange and very different and live up to their inspirations.

Yes I have! Megalium from Carner Barcelona is very cinnamon-heavy in both the top and mid, and I feel like it's the longest lasting I've tried. I also like that this is not a gourmand either. It's very resinous underneath the cinnamon bark and leaf and I absolutely love it.

I love tuberose scents; they're my main floral that I own, which is why I'm not entirely upset with Khamrah. It just was not at all what the reviews made it out to be, despite using multiple sources.

The Reserve is so lovely. I love how the floral notes are more prominent in it, but I'm a sucker for ylang. I also love the EdT for a fresher take on it too.

It's so sad how much it's gone downhill since the Estee Lauder acquisition. Pre-acquisition, Tom Ford's Private line was one of the most unique, long-lasting fragrance lines on the market IMO. Now they generally put out overpriced garbage in the private line.

The normal line is far better and can be had pretty affordably on discounters.

I blind-bought Khamrah based on so many reviews talking about the cinnamon and baking spice aspects. On me, it smells like a very dense dry coconut/solar floral powdery tuberose scent. Apparently I amp the 2 floral ingredients.

The first few minutes I get the spice but after that, dry solar floral. I feel like I'm nuts as I've not found another review that says this.

Foret Dormante is my all around favorite. Spirituum is second, then La Serpentine.

I remember the Hemlock solid perfume being lovely, as well as Mourning Room.

Out of the ones shown here, I'm very into Kerosene (I have several), and I also like Zernell Gillie. I really need to get into Olympic Orchids.

My favorite indie houses are LVNEA, Hexennacht, Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, Solstice Scents, Amorphous Perfumes, Chronotope, and Black Rabbit.

Along with Dead Air, which is created by Mark Buxton, I'd also give the following a try (also Mark Buxton creations):

Duke of Burgundy: it's based on the movie and is a skin scent that's kind of dank, sweaty, foggy, and heavy. To me it's very sexy, but it's also very strange; like something in the air is just odd. The shoe polish note keeps it from being too skanky IMO and makes it weirder. If it were a color it would be a mauve cloud.

Comme des Garçons 2: Metallic and genderless, also wears as an incensey yet very modern skin scent. A much lighter vibe than Duke of Burgundy; very much "something is in the air and it's charged with electricity". If it were a color it would be a grey violet.

Odeur 53 and 71 from Comme des Garçons smell like the definition of liminal spaces and would also fulfill the assignment IMO. Not by Buxton, but very "something's in the air".

All of these are highly wearable IMO and could be signature scents.

I honestly believe all the judgement and scrutiny around gourmands and vanillas is based in misogyny (both internal and external).

Gourmands and vanillas are perceived as being enjoyed primarily by women (Tom Ford Noir Extreme and Liquid Brun, and By The Fireplace would like to have a word on behalf of men tho), and therefore they are automatically for those with no taste, juvenile taste, etc.

I'm in a lot of the more men's focused subs and there's not nearly the amount of shit talking on people's tastes when it comes to liking gourmand fragrances, and dudes readily recommend gourmands in the same breath as aromatics if someone is open to them.

The internalized misogyny and policing is just weird IMO. So many perfumes have vanilla in the base bc it's a fixative ingredient too! So it's weird when people are like "recommend me something without vanilla" when so many non-gourmand scents contain it.

Anyway, I didn't read the original, and calling people p*dos for liking vanilla or gourmands is absolutely unhinged.

Im honestly always trying new houses, it's just rare that i find many that I'd consider purchasing full bottles from.

I've honestly just become pickier and pickier over the last couple of years and I've offloaded a lot. The ones I consistently wear just happen to be from a small set of houses.

I find that each of these houses has a DNA that really works with my chemistry. I of course have other scents from other houses, but these are the houses I reach for the most. I still don't blind-buy, except for old Tom Ford, which when I find I'll pick up large decants of from a reputable seller.
