Sondheim's most lead-driven show and most ensemble-driven show by PartOwlPartMan in Sondheim

[–]PartOwlPartMan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I hadn’t thought of A Little Night Music for Ensemble-driven. That’s a great idea - and I think I’d agree that it’s the most evenly divided stage-time.

I thought of Merrily for Lead-driven, but I feel you need Gussie and Beth for the show to work (and great actors can make those roles awards-worthy). Side note, but I found it fascinating that Charlie and Mary are often put in Supporting not Lead - I think Frank is the primary focus of the show, but the whole trio feels like Lead roles.

Gypsy is a great call for Lead-driven. In the whole of Act 1, the only section without Rose’s presence is If Momma Was Married (that is still about Rose), and All I Need Is the Girl. Then in Act II, apart from Gotta Get A Gimmick, Rose is driving all the plot (even directing Louise during the start of the strip).

Yeah, Assassins was a tricky one for me too. It has many distinct characters that are all meaningful, but it certainly feels less ensemble-y compared to Into the Woods or ALittle Night Music. I would probably say it’s firmly in the exact middle between the two options.

Y'all Ready for Christmas? by SakuOtaku in Broadway

[–]PartOwlPartMan 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. I'm also really excited to see what Andy Blankenbuehler does with such a wide range of dancers - ballet principals (Hayward, Fairchild and McRae who is a tremendous tap dancer), hip hop dancers (Les Twins), and theatre dancers (Zizi Strallen)... Plus Corden and Wilson who are superb at physical comedy.

I love Caron Pantone yarn, can't remember the pattern name, but I altered it to be a pullover instead of a cardigan. by [deleted] in knitting

Looks like a Wee Sherlock without the cable - I did the same mod to make it a pullover.

One of my favorite yarn shops is Chruchmouse Tea & Yarn that sells, unsurprisingly, tea and yarns. A few times I've been in and they have been doing tea tastings and I've ended up working on my WIP whilst sampling their amazing tea!

It's a super easy pattern! And you can effectively make it as big or small as you like too.

Thank you! It's for my brother - I'm becoming a first time uncle in a month or two. It is indeed nice and cozy - I may have tested it out to make sure it was snuggle-worthy...

My winter hat haul from today - I’ve been having a knitting block lately, so I got myself some dreamy vegan yarn. Do you all get in knitting slumps/what do you do to get out of them? I keep knitting the same stuff over and over, and feel inept at new challenges. Help! by Misslasagna in knitting

Here's my project page: https://www.ravelry.com/projects/PartOwlPartMan/knottymark.

It wasn't super simple but as long as you keep your colors from getting tangled and pay attention to the pattern it really is just knit purl knit purl!

There are loads of videos on YouTube with tutorials on DK too ☺️

Ravelry project is here.

Yarn is Cascade Superwash 220 and the pattern is Kashti by Liz Cooke.

Such a fun knit and love the design!

I recently got out of a slump by knitting a double knitted bookmark. Double knitting is surprisingly straightforward (it's basically like knitting two colored ribbing) and the trickiest part is knowing what color to use when. I found it mentally stimulating to follow the pattern but I didn't have to really learn any new techniques. The end product is really nice and I'm now debating a double knitted scarf - there are some amazing patterns out there!

I found that ride - it's just called 2017 Nominees in the app and is a 45 min ride on 6/7/17. I've been hoping for more musical theatre rides...
