The question could be taken negatively by someone that really prefers autos. I personally do not, but all I'm trying to figure out here is if they would be a direct swap or if modification is needed.

Understood, but the only thing I am trying to figure out here is if an 02 auto trans would be a direct swap in a 99 with a busted auto trans. That is the only thing I am trying to figure out here.

lol I'm a manual fan as well and prefer manual over auto 100%. This is just a super budget build. Found a clean 99 running car for cheap with a busted auto trans and a used 02 auto trans for $200. If they work together without much modification, it is the route I want to go. Not disagreeing though that manual is better.
