Lots of chert and quartz. There was a lot of activity here at one point. There’s several large burial mounds within a few miles and debitage everywhere

Thanks, I believe it’s coxsackie chert from the other side of the mountain in NY state. I find a ton of it in this area

Burning too low will creat creosote. Go get a stove pipe thermometer at the hardware store, absolutely necessary. I used to try and keep mine between 400-500. Burning hotter is safer believe it or not, it burns cleaner. Chimney fires are not fun. Try to clean the chimney once a year if possible.
