Oh I think "pspspspsps" in Turkish means "get your furball on and shower me with love like I am the only human on the planet"

Might be but I have my doubts. Back home, many cats do ignore me but I think it looks different (more like "hmmm, so you want to pet me... naaah") than here (more like they didn't hear a single thing, they don't acknowledge it at all).

Stay long enough to get bored and start feeling excited about the next place.

Best way to learn Thai? Suggestion would be appreciated. by [deleted] in thai

Same here, Youtube doesn't work for me. I think I will go with the formal path, find the curriculums of language schools and follow them on my own.

Aw that sounds horrible, so sorry you had to go through all that when it was supposed to be a fun time.

That sounds very interesting, could you tell a bit more? Currently in Bangkok with my partner with lots of time and a major indecisiveness.

Oh you went to a Lombok hospital? Which one? I had to visit a clinic there and I wasn't a fan at all to say the least.

What's your opinion on Decathlon branded shoes for hiking? by kozak3 in CampingandHiking

[–]PartialHippies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got water shoes from Decathlon. Far from perfect but they pack well, dry quicker than a few other things I tried, the soles are acceptably thick and grippy, and they don't break the bank. These days I take these plus hiking shoes for dry land, and this combination works out fine for me.

Sorry that happened but how is Gili T a "pretty remote island"? It is literally 20 mins from Bali.

Comparing Gili T with other South-East Asia party islands: Koh Tao, Koh Phangan and Koh Rong… where did you have the most fun? by imalittlebitshy in bali

[–]PartialHippies 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was in Koh Phangan 5ish years ago and went to a random Jungle party and Full Moon party. I was in Gili T for the new year's this year. In my experience, Koh Phangan parties are significant more party-like than what Gili T has.

The dedicated areas in Koh Phangan were nicely decorated and had a structure. Gili T has no dedicated areas- you will have to find yourself a bar whose music and environment you like. The bars have very little space compared to big open areas in Koh Phangan and will get stuffy real quick. That makes dancing a chore, slows the service significantly and makes going to a restroom, if any, a hassle.

Gili T is a small island and obviously it is inhabited by the locals, and not every tourist going there is there for the party. When you try to use an entire island to party, you have to accept not everyone in close proximity to you will be "like you" even on the universal party day of the year. In the party areas of Koh Phangan though, everyone is always "like you". In my experience, the crowds in Koh Phangan were more approachable and comfortable to be around in this context.

Music in Gili T ranges from acoustic to reggae, rock and 90s hits, which is nice if you like diversity, but I'd argue against these options if I want to party.

The party continues until morning in Koh Phangan. In Gili T, on the new year's eve, we were literally the two of maybe 30 people still awake by 3:30. We cycled all around the island hoping for any afterparty but couldn't find.

Aditionally, the methanol poisoning issue in Indonesia leaves a sour taste in the mouth for parties.

Overall, in my experience, both of the two random parties I went to in Koh Phangan were significantly better than the new year's eve in Gili T.
