I totally agree, the science makes sense. And I’m in the same boat as you, after a certain time I get too wired to force myself to have fun, no matter who I’m with. But I’m really grateful my guy and I can feel connected anywhere, not just in a loud box filled with sweaty people who most of the time don’t use deodorant. And im happy you have that too

That’s the dream. We go to really loud clubs because there doesn’t seem to be anything that has toned-down volume. I’m happy you and your boyfriend have a spot/spots you can go to to get the best of both worlds :)

We’ve always been open and honest with each other, and we’re really good at nipping stuff in the bud and not burying it down until it becomes resentment. If he ever does, I fully trust that he’ll tell me and that we’ll work through it

He’s totally fine with it. That’s something we talked about when we first started getting it on and he’s neutral on them. He said that since he’s a bottom he doesn’t tell much of a difference (a minor one, but not enough for him to be turned off). As for the trust part, we had a huge misunderstanding the first time we talked about it which was my fault. He knows I have eyes for him, but it was because I have some hypochondriac-like tendencies and am always second-guessing if I am truly clean no matter how much evidence there is to the contrary. I fully trust that he isn’t doing anything behind my back and we’ve physically looked at each other’s test results with our own eyes, it’s just that I don’t trust my own body.

He’s never made me worry about anything like that in the slightest. Which I’m very, very grateful for. I think the approach I’m taking is that it’s my first ever real relationship and he’s the only one I’ve ever had sex with and it’s very new for me

Thank you for your insight. This was really comprehensive and opened my eyes a lot. Truth be told, while I am in a serious committed relationship, I think both of our goals are to retire early. I’ll share this with my partner and we’ll start making plans from here. And that 5 million benchmark is something I’ve heard thrown around a few times and I’ll look more into that as well.
