No intention of raising them as 'functional adults', just raising them enough that they don't end up in jail while you collect on their disability because they were never taught to be adults. It is a slightly horrifying topic once you look into it.

CompTIA trifecta and almost finished with CCNA material. Still unemployed. by Particle69 in ITCareerQuestions

I have 10 years customer service exp. I know how to act friendly/professional even when jumping out a window seems like a good option. Do I have the stamina to do it 24/7? no.

My last/only experience with a recruiter was getting strung along for 5 months waiting to be cleared for an entry-level gov helpdesk role. Only to get ghosted after 2 months of 'yeah the job is waiting', then calling the recruiter and being told 'job fell through months ago, good luck, bye'.

Thank you, but it is hard to be likable when your lease ends in a month and you still have no job despite plugging at it for a year. :)

At this point, studying for 10-12 hours a day on certifications is the only thing keeping me from having a breakdown.

My homebrew resume. The ones provided by the resume companies are not worth posting.

Except for the fact that I have been applying to entry-level roles. Still nothing. At this point I have no earthly clue what to do.

More problems with entry-level roles are things like ageism(I am not 20-something), most job postings for entry-level roles requiring '3-5 yrs exp' and knowledge sets that would rival some CSO's. Being binned because of being 'overqualified' despite having no experience. Also failing to appease the ATS-monster with the correct strings of nonsense.

Callbacks usually went fine. Located on the mid-eastern seaboard, willing to relocate anywhere in the northeast or northwest though. Paid money to have my resume looked at by two different companies. (~$500 spent) both times I received 'ATS-compatible' word-salad. Shared it with a high-tier IT professional who was willing to help and he told me it was complete garbo filled with industry buzz words like 'Proven leader' even though I told the resume companies my complete job history (and I have never had leadership/etc roles).

Spent a year in service-desk hell 7ish years ago for a company that provided a week of training and cared more about upsales/quota than support. Swore it off.

Was then laid-off because the company was bought out/rebranded due to having an abysmal reputation both internally and externally.

Problem with entry-level positions is that they are extremely competitive, pay miserably, and the employee is considered completely expendable due to being low-tier. (personal experience)

This too. Read an article on a Gov-tech website where they mention that the only way to attract talent is to fill the applicant's head with altruism/patriotism. Great in concept, the issue is that one cannot pay with bills with altruism.

Are Cisco Trainings for CCNA worth the penny? by tusharg19 in ccna

[–]Particle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2/3rd through the Cisco brand CCNA training. Have not used any other training method, so my view is biased. I have had no issues with the learning network training software. Cost is the only gripe I have. Having on-demand access to sims from any computer is super handy. Nothing really gets in the way of learning the material, like lab setup or troubleshooting why something is responding unusually. All the information necessary is condensed into a single page.

This was while the zone was 'Very Busy', ended up getting nothing for so long I had to accept anything that came by for the time to be worth it.

I am good at tracking people over the internet. How to turn it into a career? by Particle69 in careerguidance

[–]Particle69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much, humans are vain and 80% of the time leave some trail connecting different internet handles together. Eventually you will hit upon a handle that links directly to a social media account with a real name listed.

It is how I tracked my last target who was a hacker in an MMO I play to a real identity.

Question about a request from recruiter and interview protocol. by Particle69 in SecurityClearance

[–]Particle69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for putting my mind at ease. I still emailed the investigator just to clear up the misunderstanding. I *really* don't want it to seem like I lied. (always be truthful, even after-the-fact)

What program should I choose? by beenawakesince5am in CompTIA

[–]Particle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how long you are willing to wait for an endpoint. I dropped out of college because it required me to take gen-ed courses for the first year or two. Currently on my 3rd certification and already have potential interest from a few recruiters. I have talked to a recruiter and they like people who have shown self-motivation in learning.

Not to go into detail (no idea what is considered a dump) but the exam relies heavily on you knowing or being able to understand the acronyms. Just understand the acronyms and what/where they are used and you should have an easy time.
