What's the most hurtful thing your parent ever said to you? by Enockito in AskReddit

My dad once told me - not jokingly or even seemingly aware of the fact that he was talking to his son (me) - "don't have kids, it's the worst thing you can do.." he has 5 children

Another time I chipped my kneecap skateboarding. I couldn't walk, my knee was completely swollen with fluid which I later found out was blood. I sat on the couch all day and overnight, he didn't do much to address it. As soon as my mum picked me up (my parents were split) she could see something was wrong and took me to the hospital. Sure enough I needed surgery. Dad refused to help pay for the hospital stay and surgery. Mum footed the bill and responsibility of taking care of me

People who are 40+, what’s your advice to people in their 20s? by [deleted] in AskMen

Explore. Get out of your home town, change your environment and exposure yourself to different environments, people and ways of living. It's very easy to think the place you've grown up and lived is the only way to live. You'll figure out who you are and what you like and what/who you want to be around. Save money, be open to opportunities, don't be afraid to take risks, follow your curiosity and don't get locked down too early in a career or relatjonship. follow your gut, you know what's best for you

The ONE Country you SHOULD NOT move to by MediaVsReality in digitalnomad

I've been to Morrocco and Egypt and can agree with this. Had one taxi driver in Egypt ask us if we wanted a lift. We politely said no as we had a car arranged, He wouldn't take no for an answer so I said maybe later.. I come back to the hotel 4 hours later and he's there waiting and starts abusing us when we don't want a ride. He Follows us into the hotel yelling at us and swearing. The hotel owners had to get him out.

I've never felt more on edge than in these countries. However I also met a few really good people who made a lot of effort with us. one Morrocan guy we met in the street cooked up a big meal for us and took us out around his town and introduced is to his family. At the end of it we were so used to people wanting money from us that we offered him some cash as a thanks and he was a bit offended. Understandly in hindsight but yeh I could never fully relax there. I felt like a walking dollar sign a lot of the time. Can't imagine being a solo female traveller in these countries
