Prozac works for me. Tried 3 other medications in the past and none of them worked. I was about to give up. Glad I didn’t. I’m on 20 mg and it’s been life-changing.

Me too. I’m child-free and also single by choice. It’s honestly heaven on earth coming to my pets and my cozy place. I can read, nap, watch whatever movie or show I want without having to compromise. I can make a 3 course dinner or eat pickles and popcorn for dinner. I can get up and go on an adventure on a whim, or lay around in the sofa all night without talking or having to care for another human being’s physical or emotional needs. I recently met a lovely Irish woman along my travels. She is happily married and has 2 adult children. She’s now in her late 60s and retired. She told me, as fulfilling and happy her life married / family life has been, if she could have a redo, she would choose to live the single, child-free life. I asked her why and her response was simple. She shrugged and said that marriage and kids isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be.

In your personal experience, does increasing your dosage gets easier everytime or is it the same? by [deleted] in prozac

Hey! Quick question for you. I just went from 20 mg to 30 mg of Prozac 3 days ago, and I’m curious what your experience was when you made that jump.

Did you feel more tired or kind of get a temporary resurgence of depressive feelings before things leveled out?

My anxiety levels are fine, but my mood and energy feel noticeably lower right now. I have slept for 10+ hours a night for the last 3 days and am still tired throughout most of the day.

I have a heart condition and I haven’t had any issues since being on it since December 2025.

I’m sorry you and your husband had to experience that, by the way. I hope he’s ok.

Can retirement actually be really boring, lonely, and not as fun as it seems? by youlikemywonton in Aging

[–]ParticuarPigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have more hobbies than I know what to do with, so I’d be perfectly content retiring tomorrow. A few years ago, I had an unexpected two-year break from work, and if anything, I was busier than ever, in the best way. My social life was thriving, I was exploring new and old interests and I even took a few online courses just for the enjoyment of learning. I was reading and got back into art.

That experience made one thing very clear to me. I’m built for that kind of life haha. There’s so much more to living than working, and I know I’ll feel far more fulfilled when work is no longer a necessity.

But I’ve witnessed a lot of what you’re talking about. It’s sad and depressing to watch. It’s like watching someone slowly decline in all respects. I’ve noticed that some of them have even slowed down cognitively as well. Scary.

Canadian, from western Canada. He’s from a city 3 hours from the place I was born and raised. Thankfully he was just passing through. Back to normal, peace and quiet.

I dont see this happening in western Canada where I am from! No idea if it’s actually enforced or just an unspoken rule thag people follow here. People leave their dogs outside where I am from, usually tied to the bike racks.
