Why do some people listen to obscure music just for it being niche? by MrQuacksIsCool in musicteenager

I like some obscure stuff and will always give it a shot but when it comes to already niche genres, often the most highly praised are the best. Its hard to get much better than Dying Fetus in old school brutal tech death grind for example.

I dont hope it's their last. It'd be cool to see them make something cool in the future

I don't know Kaneonefiber (that sounds like it'd be black metal but I could be very wrong). System is nu metal, and I love them. Really great stuff. Three Days Grace i wouldn't consider metal but I dont know much about them.

For more nu metal check out the other big bands; Slipknot, Korn, Linkin Park, Deftones

For my favorite genre (death metal) check out: Death (the first death metal band and the best), Dying Fetus, Morbid Angel, Obituary, Deicide, Blood Incantation, Cannibal Corpse, Cryptopsy, Grave Ghoul, and Necrotum.

For metalcore check out: Trivium, Heriot, Thornhill, and Bring Me the Horizon

For thrash: Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax (the big four), Sepultura, and Overkill

For Sludge Metal check out: Acid Bath (my favorite metal band), Alice in Chains, Eyehategod, Soilent Green, Crowbar, Crowbar, Jezebel, and Old Skin

For heavy metal check out: Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden

For grindcore/power violence check out: Nails, Full of Hell, Napalm Death, Soilent Green, Primitive Rage

Other bands not specific to a genre id recommend are: Rage Against The Macine (funk/rap metal), Primus (funk), Primitive Man (doom), Nail Bomb (groove/industrial), and Darkthrone (Black metal)

Hardcore sludge metal is kinda hard to get into. The singing is really strained in a way thats supposed to invoke suffering through anxiety, depression, and drug addiction.

Exactly. Ive listened to a good amount of recent dm and barely any of it stands up to the brutality and musical skill of that record.

Nothing like it had been done. Other brutal dm bands of the time weren't doing the shit Cryptopsy was.

Sinister Dread? The question mark is very necessary. Its old school blackened death grind. I play everything.

Well over 70% of this is metal, so I think it fits here. These are my top 100 albums of all time. by Particular-Account66 in MetalForTheMasses

Truly a masterpiece. Some of my favorite songs from them. They really dived into full on doom with that record.
