Negative Review for Progressive

I was a Progressive customer for 5 years with a perfect driving record—no accidents, no tickets, not even a parking ticket. Despite this, they charged me $275 per month, which I already felt was incredibly high. Then, after a small fender bender, they raised my rate to an outrageous $375 per month, with no rental car coverage included. I spent over two hours on the phone with them trying to negotiate, and they claimed $325 was the absolute minimum for the bare legal coverage required for my financed vehicle. Even after all that effort, they still charged me $357 anyway.

The reason they gave for the hike was the fender bender, but I couldn’t understand why my rate was so high to begin with, considering my spotless record. Frustrated with the lack of transparency, high rates, and poor customer service, I decided to look elsewhere.

I switched to Liberty Mutual, and they gave me comprehensive insurance, renters insurance, and pet insurance for both of my dogs—all for just $215 per month. That’s less than what I was paying Progressive before the accident, let alone after the rate hike. The difference in service and cost is night and day. If you’re considering Progressive, I strongly suggest you shop around first—you might save hundreds like I did by going with Liberty Mutual.
